I'm replacing the crapy 6.5 inch factory speakers in my boat and wanted to hear some suggestions. Looking for
1) Sound quality
2) durability (live in a humid climate)
3) looks

Thanks for any input.

Fusion or wet sounds IMO.

I got the Rockford Fosgate Power T162C and love 'em. Same thing Malibu is now putting in. Price is right too, can be had for under $50 a pair on eBay.

Jason, I have heard nothing but good things about wetsounds. But I'm having a hard time finding any info. on the 6.5 inch in boat speakers. I have been to the website and to wakeside.com but they are not listed.

I have been eyeing those RF as well.

the new wetsoudns should and will be very nice, but probably be around $200/pr. The polk db series are very hard to beat...they are bulletproff and haev very good sound.

And if your looking for a box, HSE Trident Speaker Box is off the chains. Real nice design with a punching sound. www.hsetrident.com

Jason,
You do understand that I am looking for speakers inside my boat not on my tower?

For the cost, HSE has some of the cheeseiest clamps out there.

nobody has suggested the db650s yet?

db650s,http://www.cardomain.com/item/POLDB650
$56.99 shipped.

The Wetsounds cost $199, It's a difficult argument to go from $56.99 to $200. Especially being that this is wetsounds first go with 6.5 drivers and polk has been in the business for years. Wetsounds has a great track record and probably has great (unreleased) product in the 6.5" line. Though, too many unknowns for a 300% increase in price. Especially if you're buying 2 or 3 sets.

JeremeyH, Here is a direct link http://www.wetsounds.com/pages/products/XS-650.html

If you go to the site, look at products then in-boat speakers. I will be updating the site with the pictures soon.

The XS650 is a different class of speaker than the db650. That speaker is a great speaker for the money. But, the XS650 is in the class with the JL Marine and Polk Momo. Which retail at $399 and $150. That is more of an apples to apples comparison when looking at price. For instance, The XS650 handles 100 watts RMS where the db is 60 watts rms.

There have been some sent out that are being installed now so they will be able to fill you in on the performance. We will be shipping them in a week and a half.

Here is an install shot of the production ones.

I recently went with the Wetsounds 6.5's and I am extremely impressed. They are loud, clean, and can take a ton of power. The are also designed for the marine environment so the humid conditions will not be a problem. These babies rock hard!

Jeremy, I have 6 polk momo 6.5" speakers if you're interested in buying them. I was going to put them in my tower, but they didn't fit correctly in my fiberglass enclosure, so they've been sitting in my garage. still new in the box.

e-mail me if interested. I'd have to do some research as to what I paid, and what I'd be looking to get for them, but I'd give a fair deal.
