First, this Michigan winter is killing me. It is March 16th and it was 18 degrees this morning.

Question on which foot forward everybody is. When I board I'm right foot forward but when I ski I'm left foot forward. I'm getting better but I still really plow with my back foot and it slows down my off side turn. I was thinking about switching my feet this year.

Has any who has skied for years tried switching their stance? Do you think there is any merit to it?

Second question is for tricking. When starting on 1 trick ski do you have your back foot in or out?

When people ask me what foot to put forward in a slalom ski, I give then a shove backwards and whatever foot they step back with is the foot I tell them to put forward. You might give that a try, course you might hop backwards with both feet! ;)

Good luck,
JT

Wow this thread is alive? Well it's good to see that the weather is much different from last year. March 22nd 32 degrees! Almost double from last year!

I actually took lessons last year. The best way I could describe it is the only way I could have been doing more wrong is if I had the ski on backwards. Anyone looking to progress should take lessons. Good times. And I tried switching feet. Dumb.

Here's where it gets weird though. Board - Goofy RFF. Slalom - LFF. Trick - RFF. Man I'm messed up.

Can't imagine switching stance on a ski (LFF). As I ride more it's easier to go switch, but as a long time skier that LFF stance takes a long time to change when riding switch for any W2W jumps.
