Fat sac pump problem

Over the winter i ordered fat sacs and a pump and i went to use them this weekend for the first time, but whenever i tried to plug the pump in, it would run for about 2 seconds then the circuit breaker would break. Im not sure but i was wondering if either of these could be the problem. the battery is low and wont charge above ten volts so maybe a new battery is what the problem is. the other thought i had is that maybe the alternator is going bad. What do you think the problem is, any advice is appreciated.
