Fresh Air Exhaust users

I am contemplating adding Fresh Air Exhaust to my 1998 Sky Supreme DD and am looking for opinions of people that have installed it. I find myself surfing far more often than wakeboarding now and want to make sure that I am keeping my family and friends as safe as possible while enjoying a day on the lake.

Of course the website has great information on it, but I am looking for real life experience with it.

The following is a draft copy of an independent report I just received:


Independent testing of the sound levels emitted from a 1999 Tige 21V Rider’s Edition revealed a decrease in the sound level before and after the FAE was installed of up to an astonishing 15 dBA difference. Readings were taken at various points both inside and outside the boat at a variety of engine RPMs and boat speeds with a Simpson Type 2 sound level meter with a background noise level of 40 dBA. At the driver’s seat at idle (the smallest difference) was measured to be only a 2 dBA reduction, although the same point when measured at a cruising speed of 22 mph measured an amazing reduction of 6 dBA. Furthermore, measuring the sound level from a stationary point approximately 10 feet behind the same boat, resulted in a difference of 12 dBA repeatedly during hole shot tests (wide open throttle acceleration from a stand still). To put this in perspective, a 15 dBA difference is the difference between a coffee grinder (~75 dBA) and normal conversation (~60 dBA).

I can’t begin to tell you how happy I am with the noise reduction. Before installing the FAE, it wasn’t possible at all to hear the stereo system while wakeboarding, even with my tower mounted speakers and amp. On a particularly still day, you could faintly hear the stereo while surfing. Since installing the FAE, I can hear my stereo loud and clear even while wakeboarding. The FAE has reduced the noise levels so much, that while surfing I can even hear and converse with the passengers in the boat. The FAE has greatly increased my enjoyment of both wakeboarding and surfing behind my boat.

I'm only kidding, but as you can see, my son James rides at an incredible level and part of that is due to the fact that we are out wakesurfing all the time. We haven't even taken a wakeboard with us in over 3 months.

I was worried like you, about the CO issue and the FAE is the only aftermarket product to address this. Just from a parental standpoint, this product will give TONS of peace of mind.

The noise reduction was amazing. My '03 Tige 23V was louder than most boats stock, not sure why, but after the FAE you can have a conversatiion inside the boat without SCREAMING!

This winter I'm going to have the folks at Neptunes "pimp" my stereo I had refrained from this before. Simply put the boat was too loud before and I didn't want to fry my eardrums so that my teenage son could hear. Now I think some skilled designers can help us achieve both.

The installation was easy. I was telling Larry that I have a broken back. I ALMOST have more metal holding my spine together than the FAE is made of! While it was a bit harder for me than I expected, merely because of having to work in a position that my spine wasn't fond of...my son and I were able to install it in about 3 or so hours.

It's an intangible that isn't addressed much anywhere else, but I'll tell you from my own experience. The product is worth it's weight in gold for the peace of mind you'll have that first time a youngster rides behind your boat.
