Sorry, couldn't resist. Nice looking set-up. Good luck making it through the winter with that staring you down.

the nifty little plates like the nifty little plates that slingshot bindings have had for 2 years??

Never said they didn't lol

It still is really cool though how you just gotta pull the clip and you can move them around.

stiff as in harder to poke. i used to ride ultra suctions back in the day & love the less restrictive style of bindings. the company bindings look stiff like slingshots d3.

Yea they are pretty stiff, I just wasn't sure whether you were talking about the board or the bindings.

How big/good/sticky is the Velcro that holds the laces down over the toe?
I think Company has a pretty stylish idea for a lace holder (i am sure some might not think it looks "stylish") but at the same time i want to think that the slingshot's new method is more "functional" (again, just my opinion)... judging from the pictures and descriptions that is. Just curious how well both methods will perform when a nice slash of water comes by and grabs the laces and flaps

Lets see a pic of those liner graphics. looks cool from what i can see poking over the top of the boot

what are the footbeds like? are they like the ones (poron footbeds http://www.rogerscorp.com/hpf/poron/index.aspx) shown here in the SS D2 box? Upload

sorry, just super curious as always.

Thanx for the killer pics! good job feeding the beast inside me ;)... and others too i am sure

those faces on the liner look familiar from the early Co. teases

I am just gona guess that the footbeds are the same as slingshot. kinda firm to the touch, not necessarily marshmallowy soft? I don't know if Slingshot's still come in the way ("separate" in a sense) they did before but i do know that they added a slingshot graphic to the footbed like Co. did for theirs.

like slingshot, looks like they decided not to have the ankle brase thing for '09... I have really started to like that thing.

i still dont buy that they arent connected to slingshot. those are the same liners as the 07 slingshots, or they look the same just different graphic. the rest of the boots are pretty much identical too. i dont understand that if they trully arent connected then why would you copy your competitor and not do something different?

I was in Denver this weekend and checked out all the Company stuff. Tino was there and was very cool and very informative on where they are now and what they are planning for the future. Those bindings are the D3's or at least a former prototype that Co. picked up from SS as they had to get a binding out real quick. Pretty cool stuff but I will be sticking with SS as they have continued to impress me with their product, customer service, and overall stoke on riding.

Ok, I am done hearing about if Company and Slingshot have the same product or not. If you all cannot tell that it is the exact same product with different graphics you are all insane. What is happening is Company is having Slingshot make all or their goods, Slingshot takes a cut and in turn Company either has to raise prices or make less profit on it. Honestly, I am not too sure why they are doing that, if you want to come out with the new "hottest" wake company, I think you might need some of your own ideas and own innovations, but hey, that might just be me.

Is this the product of empty hype? I would love to see a Company back up all the "new" talk they were espousing. I'm sure they will differentiate themselves in the future, but c'mon, its been a year since Company made their first announcement. In that time they were able to reissue an existing board/binding. I hope SS is getting compensated for letting Company ride its coattails.

I just think its funny because there are so many people that swear they are different and that company is so much better. its all crap. and honestly, im not sure harris is the right move. well maybe as long as he doesnt talk and he just rides they will be ok, but look at the axis video, people may be blaming axis, but he also chose to go through with promoting that crap. And Butler's video talking about company was equally as bad. Harris's video didnt make people want to buy axis and Butler's video definately turned me off of company.

So i guess my point is that i agree with big heavy's idea that its all just empty hype and they are riding the coattails of slingshot. its been done many times in this industry unfortunately and i have a problem with a company trying to be something they arent and when they claim to be innovative when they are simply immitators. i guess the red flag was when they name their company "company". they should be selling a limited edition "wakeboard 137". That would be about as lame

Flame on...

WHEW!!! This is all supposed to be fun guys! There's quite a bit of heat in the room right now, haha...

Just know that Slingshot has indeed helped us get our feet on the ground with certain
products, and that they are in fact quite amazing people with vision, passion and work ethic that we
appreciate and are grateful for...

Company "IS" however a fully independently owned and operated brand from the ground up, and we
have barely just scratched the surface with where we're headed with things. We have our own vision, our
own direction, our own team, our own designers, our own engineers etc...

We're so grateful for what we've been able to accomplish in such a short amount of time, and are extremely
proud of our current product line. Hang in there fellas, because you're going to really start to see us come into
our own here very soon...It's only just begun.

COMPANY!

god i love these flex threads, all you full time flexers are so angry, why is that? A guy cant even post pics of his new set-up that has him stoked without a fight breaking out.

I remember when snowlerblades came out, remember those goofy things. Like ski-boots with flat bottoms. Anyway my brother was totally into them, claimed it to be the coolest thing ever and that this was the furture of freestyle skiing. Anyway it went away eventually, turns out it wasnt that cool. My point is he got equally as mad about people questioning his love of snowlerblades as people do about flex.

Not trying to start any fights, I just love these threads, seriously they are amazing. I don't have any hate for any type of wakeboarding ride any board you want, I LOVE MY O'BRIEN LOCAL for Jibbing and I have been riding it behind the boat a bit, but at this point I am still a tradition board rider, just think it gives me more pop, but I dont hate on the flex.

embrace change, shiat Obama took office today!

I haven't read all the other treads above, but sticking to what I think is the reason for this thread, your new set up looks great! Digging the boots style bindings and the pimped out insert. The whole board looks great Nick! Post some pics of you on it when you can. Also, how much flex does the board have and the bindings?

I will definitely post a video / pics when I can. The board isn't super flexible but it still does flex, just a bit stiffer.

Nice setup. Good luck waiting it out. I'm in the same boat so to speak. I just got the 08 Recoil with PB Floyds for Christmas and it's barely getting above freezing here.

Angry flexers? hahaha

I say its great for SS helping an up and coming company get going. I thought it was common knowledge that they had helped them and the boards might even be made in the same place. I thought that was in another thread. I'm a noob so who knows.

Kevin,

To answer your question: "i guess what i think a couple of us are curious about is will yall be competing directly with ss or will yall be working together to try and establish flex as mainstream?"

Company and Slingshot are 2 different brands, and both of our marketing efforts are 2 completely different programs...

Quite frankly at Company we view flex as a feature that can be obtained and utilized by the technology that we use and believe in, and don't see ourselves
as a flex brand specifically at all. We're a wakeboard company, and we just so happen to be HUGE believers in messing around with what's going on inside
the boards as well in order to change the way a board performs. It just flat out makes sense to us to do this. There is so much strength and energy to be utilized
and manipulated to our advantage that CAN HELP BRING YOUR BOARDS TO LIFE!!!

With that said, Slingshot has done an amazing job at provoking and solidifying some amazing things in this department specifically, as you all
know...but how this technology is marketed and sold is completely up to each brand specifically. We have nothing but respect for the Slingshot
crew, and anyone that has stood up for what they believe in. This isn't the first time that these guys have been pioneers in this industry in relation
to bringing certain concepts and technologies to this industry, so we tip our hats to them...

In the meantime please just know that we know who we are, and know what were capable of...We have a game-plan, and it just takes a little
time to roll things out thats all...

AMERICA!!!

In my opinion the Severance is the only board that looks anything like a Slingshot. The Recruit looks like a totally different kind of flex board. And the boots look insane! My shop dosn't sell any flex boards so I guess I'm out on the whole thing.
Old     (101wake)      Join Date: Jan 2009       01-20-2009, 2:42 PM Reply
Who REALLY cares what board someone rides? For all the people dissing flex, can you ride as well as Jeff House, or Aaron Aubry, or Josh Smith on a non flex board? I doubt it... If you don't like company or slingshot don't buy em, stick with what you like.

But if their boards get one more rider on the water, isn't that a good thing?

Arguing on the internet is sooo lame! If you spent as much time arguing as you did riding you'd all probably be on the pro tour!

I agree with Andy, I love my Roam on the rails and sometimes ride it behind the boat if I feel like goofing around, but I feel like I get more pop on a regular board. That's what works for me, so I stick with it.

hopefully all this drama does not sway you either direction Nick K. Again, super appreciative of your pics and responses and just willingness to share. please continue to do so and not let any af this heat spoil it.

earlier above i read somewhere where someone missed the "h" in thread and spelled "tread" (I am not about to complain about spelling) and so I thought to myself, "wow! that is perefect way to describe things and a sort of play on words"... as in, "Don't TREAD on me"

anyway

I'm with Busby, "I'm a happy flexer with passion" always trying to support it all, just with an emphasis on knowin' flex is all. Only thing i remember myself ever getting "angry" about was my uhh... *cough* huge air experience which now has cleared and become more of a fun inside joke to share from time to time.

I am really happy to see Co. taking a personal interest in participating on these threads. comments from Co. are always inciteful, informative, friendly, and pretty much to the point. They were even friendly enough to give a shout out to Humanoid as they imerged from near obscurity, and i think that is kool.

I admit that i might have reserved some "disapointments", but on further analysis i knew that they were just misguided expectations that i immagined. But besides that, i also never immagined that the people involved that ARE involved. I'd say they are more than just enorsements, and will help produce some amazing unkown stuff in the future.

Props to LiquidForce too for their inclusion of "flex," though i personally feel they are just easing their way in with foam cores which is fine, unlike say, Obrien which made a completely different core material. Humanoid almost seems to be working oposite of LF and easing their way from SANDWICH-CONSTRUCTION-(foam and wood)-FLEX back to "traditional" style boards with the bottom features they are incorperating with the same style of sandwich construction. I am really excited to see where all this will meet in the middle!

i am a huge supporter of SS and i ride the recoil full time and i've ridden a friend's company board recently...no noticable difference between the two in terms of board performance. he had LF watsons on the board so i can't compare the boots, but the boards were virtually identical, so my allegiance lies with SS. So, Nick Kondylas, did you get around to putting the boots on? heat molding the liners and such?

i remember before, you were debating on a size to get. what is your personal take on them? (i guess from an inside-the-house aspect kind of test)

think you'll use my idea on, "adding a thin layer of foam or after-market footbed from the shoe-aisle to squeeze things up to a half size?"

no rush on this one, feel free to take your time ;)

Why heat mold? The liners will mold as you ride just takes longer.

BTW the new company setup looks good, don't think I mentioned that before...

IMO, heat molding doesn't do much for any bindings be it SS, Ronix, or company.
Old     (homedawg678)      Join Date: Jan 2007       01-21-2009, 2:39 PM Reply
Yea the size is a little interesting. I got a size 10, which is a little big because I wear 9's and the liners are snug if not a little small, but the my foot inside the bindings with no liner is definitely way big. Didn't realize the liners took that much room up so hopefully they will get a little bigger if I mold them.

I am actually probably going to mold them right before or after I first start riding in case my feet grow a little so I won't have to re-mold.
Old     (sidekicknicholas)      Join Date: Mar 2007       01-21-2009, 3:03 PM Reply
My Ronix I didn't notice the heat molding -- but SS for sure... each toe has its own little spot.

With my One bindings I did notice a difference. My ankles had a few small pressure points and after the molding they were gone. But I am sure the normal breaking in would have worked just as well.

Is it anything like molding a mouth guard or is it more subtle?

It is far more subtle. There is just small bumps and indents that follow the shape of your ankle and shin. But my results could be a bit different because I molded mine similarly to how you mold a mouth guard instead of with the Intuition oven.

i saw the video of butler before and did not think it was bad. i was surprised that she said she had not ridden a flex board yet. i bet there are just as many (%) pros as amatures/ consumers who have no idea what they are missing... or not missing, depending on your outlook on flex. but this has already been discused to an extent elsewhere.

on another note. just saw the phoenix boat show and saw a company boot there. I would say the footbeds ARE the same as ss. also the inside of the flap that goes over the toes to hide the laces has two pockets on the inside similar to the pockets on the outside/back of slingshot, soooo I'd definitely agree that those laces are not going anywhere, but i am guessing that you would sacrifice a wee bit more time (for the style look) getting the boots ready to ride v.s. slingshot... but there were no '09 ss boots for me to compare in person to be 100% ;(

I think Nicola and Eddie V. were separated at birth. They even kinda sound the same, weird. If they were to have love babies, they'd have carbon copies of themselves and thus complete domination. Is Company just planning for future?
