I searched this topic extensively throughout the forum but didnt' find what i was looking for so I decided to start a new post. I need to replace the alternator on my 2001 luanch v-drive. It has 5.7 liter indmar. I wouldn't mind uprading to more amps (only 51 right now). I found some on ebay but nothing seems to cross over exactly. Is that common or did everyone else that upgraded to something have an exact fit? thanks for any input

most people will switch to the one wire alts. I haev the 70 amp stock alt I pulled of my 04 supra SSV (325 HP) sitting in my garaage I'd let go for cheap if you want it.

thanks for suggestions guys. Talked to ron and my 140 amp will be on its way today. For even less than replacing the stock 51 amp. I run 2 blue tops so I could definately use the extra charge.

Make sure that the alternator is rated for Marine use. Legal and safety issues involved.
