Hey all, I'm new to the forum. Pretty sure I will coming back quite a bit. Anyway, here's the deal... I have a friend whose dad is pretty loaded, and he ended up going to the Portland Boat Show and putting a down payment on a 07 x star. The guy's never had a boat before, but my friend and I told him to go get a good wakeboarding boat...so he did haha. As of right now, I've never ridden behind an x star. I've heard that in order to get a comparable wake to some of the better ones out there, you have to add quite a bit of ballast on top of the stock 1,000 lbs. To be honest, I haven't ridden behind too many boats. I mostly just ride my 01 centurion air warrior. Does anyone know how the x star would compare to the centurion? What do you guys suggest I do about ballast for the x star? I'm sure we will be able to get a great wake eventually, I just want some advice on weighting, rope length, etc. in order to get there a little faster. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Have your buddies dad get the protour ballast system from flyhigh and have it installed.

I think that boat has a great wake stock.

otherwise, cut to the case and get the fly-high kit for the X-star..

No research needed, just install and enjoy.

I've looked around at pricing, and it looks like the bags alone for the pro tour set up are about $600. Anyone know about how much it would cost on top of that to install. I know it would depend on the dealer, but an estimate would be nice. Also, whoever has ridden on this set up, what was it like? Too big? Just right?

Boardstop has a full hardware kit that you can buy....it adds like $650 to the price tho. I have ridden behind one weighted similar to the PWT setup and it was amazing!! You need to have the right prop and engine combo to handle all that weight tho. Here is a link to the kit:

So does the upgrade kit use the factory pumps to fill and empty the bags? How long does it take to fill up?

yes they use the factory pumps. and filling times depends how BIG you want the wake. I have never really timed ours but I know we can fill all bags and tanks while we cruise over to a cove and get our rope out and board on.

Where do the bags go? I'm assuming that the two big bags go on the sides of the engine compartment, but where do the other two bags go? When looking at the X-Star, I noticed that there isn't much room under the seats in the bow. Can you really fit a few hundred pounds of ballast under there?

The bags go on both sides of the engine and then under the front seats...theres a pretty good bit of room in there....you can fit an icechest under there...here are a couple of pics of an xstar with the system...its not mine just some I was sent.
