Help me choose a boat!

Hi!

This summir I am going to buy a wakeboard boat.. But I can not deside what boat is the best for me! I want a boat for wakeboarding and wakesurfing.. Can anyone help me with what brand/type of boat to buy? I have looked at mastercraft, malibu and ski natique...

I need to buy a boat from Germany..

It looks like on that site they have some decent used boats, but all on there would need a tower or pylon. good luck on the search.

Thanks But I was hoping pros/cons on the boat brands.. What brand is the best for wakeboarding/wakesurfing? There has to be differences.. hehe

The last one has a multiport corvette engine and will have the most power and may actully be more fuel effiecent. The two Natiques will have a narrower and steeper wake. The Mastercrafts will have more of a rampy wake. The mastercrafts also should have more interior room. They are all nice boats and you will be happy with any of them.

Tanks! I'm going to build the engine to run on propane gas. This will probobly reduse the fuel cost alot.. It looks like the Ski Nautiques ar alot cheaper than the mastercrafts..

But how is these boats for wakesurfing? Anyone done wakesurfing after these boats? ('93 - '98)

Not on the closed bows like you are looking at but I wake surf behind my '96 mastercraft.
The nautiques will be better for goofy(right foot forward) surfing and the mastercrafts better for regular(left foot forward) surfing. This has to do with the props on the nautiques rotating left and the mastercrafts rotating right.

These are all closed bow ski boats & will not have the greatest of wakes. They can be worked with but when you have a small 19 foot ski boat you get a dinky little wake & they are really bad at wakesurfing because you can't load them as much as you need to without sinking the poor little fella. Does prop rotation really have that much impact on wakesurf wake? that makes no sense at all, please explain Jason.

Steve ~ yes the prop rotation will make the difference. The driver side on all boats but Nauti's will not be as good cause of the rotation of the prop. For us goofy foot riders the Nauti is the best wakesurfing boat. Keep in mind that I'm talking about riding the wave TS. If you ride HS it would be the other way around.

Thanks, but what is the alterative for me at that price? I can't seem to find a bowrider at that price.. Is there anything else that is better for wakboarding? Remember I can only use 19.000 EURO total... And I have to buy it from germany because of the CE marking of the boat,,, I hate living in europe when it comes to this things... grrr..

The prop rotation at that speed makes the wake on one side want to curl over and wash out, making it very difficult to surf. Behind my buddies X-2 last summer we loaded the thing down and I surfed the passenger side since I'm regular foot, and a goofy foot guy was trying to surf the drivers side at the same time. He just couldn't get a solid push off the wake because it would curl over and wash out. On a Natique it would have been opposite.
This boat is 19,900 Euros but it will be an open bow and a V-drive. It is a Maristar which is Matercrafts luxery boats

But the Maristar looks like crap.. hehe.. I don't want that type of boat.. So If I understand right: What I want is some kind of MasteCraft...? I am a regular foot rider, and I like big rounded wakes.. Have I got that right? hehe Because of the tower/sound system I cannot afford 19.900 for a boat.. I can not go over 18.900 EURO at MAX! So i guess I need to go for a 92'-95' Mastercraft closed bow.. I'm afraid I can't find any open bow for that price..
But hopefully the closed bow with enough ballast can give me a ok wake...

If you need to stay on a budget I'd recommend the Ski Nautque 2001.

I have riden behind this model boat and with a single fat sac it put up the best wake I have seen from a closed bow.

The one listed above even has a tower.

The best thing for me would be to buy a boat in norway.. I have looked at a boat here that I might be able to afford..

What do you think of this compared to the SN2001? Which has the best wake?

Also.. Anyone have experiense changing engines to run on propan gas??

Christopher, my believe is that the Nautique 2001 model (1982-1989) put out the best wake for a boat under eur15.000,- . The main disadvantage of the boat is that it is small (like other 19ft). You really need a tower on that boat and some boardracks to clean up some space. We still owning a 2001 Nautique (1988) and a SuperAir Nautique (2000). The "Prof" SuperAir wake is really perfect (for us), but the 2001 wake still doesn't let nobody to complain and satisfied more then the regular boarders. The 2001 makes almost as much hours as our SAN each summer.

Running a skiboat on propan isn't a big problem (and it isn't expensive with carb engines). Look for a guy named Riverside on this forum (or wb.com). He can help you with this..

Btw; I'm a regular footed (wakeboard & surfboard), but I can surf behind every Nautique without a problem..

I never boarded behind a Respons, so I cannot tell you anything about it... But that Malibu looks good. It's kinda hard for me to read the text . But it already has a good tower any acces. for the tower. It also looks like it has a bit more room inside the boat then a 2001. Do you already seen the boat in real flesh?

Have got alot of pictures of the boat, and if it's in the shape he says it is, then the boat is technically great..

My only consern is the boat brand and model for wakeboarding and wakesurfing

Also I loved the skylon tower ;)
