Does he not ride on the tour? SOB is sick! I thought he would be tearing up the tour pretty soon after he started making news several years back. What an awesome rider. I love his TS edging.

He isn't a good contest rider really. It's the whole vibe of the thing or something because he absolutely does not fall free riding unless he is messing around or tweaking something new. He always does that little bunny hop before cutting in, that and the whole pull the vest down and re-grip the handle.

SOB is at the top of the list of people I wanna photo/watch ride live!

Easily in my top 5 fav's of riders!

That tantrum where he grabbed nuclear right after the 2 minute mark was huge!! I think I saw a couple crow 5s, heel back 7, and toe back 5. That kid is pretty dang good

SOB kills it! I got to ride with him this summer, just me and him. I went out and took my set and when I was done I asked him if he wanted to take a spin, so I got to drive and watch him rip it up in the mirror!

I agree with Steven, he is one of the nicest guys you will ever meet!

It was a classic Big Worm for sure... more a less his warm-up trick.
Old     (jarrod)      Join Date: May 2003       01-07-2009, 9:27 AM Reply
He actually makes a heel front 7 look good.

always LOVED his tanny to blind and nuke tantrum.

Loved the indy toe front into the flats.

Does he do a Pete? I kept waiting for it. I think he did a toeside R2R.
Old     (wakeriderixi)      Join Date: Jan 2004       01-07-2009, 10:02 AM Reply
Yes he does. He only does some tricks at the request of others, when I've been out anyways, and I've requested it.
Old     (the_bum)      Join Date: Jul 2008       01-07-2009, 11:25 AM Reply
Dudes got skills. Does anybody know if he ever landed his big worm 7?
Old     (wakeriderixi)      Join Date: Jan 2004       01-07-2009, 11:37 AM Reply
I do not think so, but it's been a long time since I've asked about it. He has gotten so very close though.

With his camp and love of free riding it just doesn't seem worth it wrecking yourself over one trick- I mean we're talkin' a Nasty heelside edge digger for even coming close. Not to say he doesn't love progression, he is after all the first person to ever land a KGB handle pass 540!

I just hope he sees his Elephant to blind through. That is just insane to think about how awesome that would be!
Old     (andy_nintzel)      Join Date: Sep 2004 Location: Minnesnowda       01-07-2009, 12:21 PM Reply
I have heard him talking about that Nose Elephant to blind, that would be SICK
Old     (dnp33)      Join Date: Jan 2007       01-07-2009, 12:21 PM Reply
that was amazing i think the only trick he repeated in that 4 minute video was a TS BS 3, and even then 1 was off the DU one wasn't.

just imagine combining his skills with someone like josh palma (i think thats his name) who can do everything switch they do regular. i think SOB only did 1 switch trick the whole video.
Old     (the_bum)      Join Date: Jul 2008       01-07-2009, 12:49 PM Reply
Thats sick! He should try it switch, it would be a switch toeside 180 into a whirly 5. Sounds like it might make it a lil easier but I have no idea.
Old     (wakeriderixi)      Join Date: Jan 2004       01-07-2009, 12:59 PM Reply
I've seen some flack he has caught for not riding switch often. It isn't like he can't, I've seen some super clean switch 7's.
Old     (eubanks01)      Join Date: Jun 2001       01-07-2009, 1:15 PM Reply
Why is so much made about being able to do (or just doing) tricks switch? I would say most of the pro's can all ride switch VERY well. But that doesn't mean they want to learn every trick twice...that would seem boring to me. I would rather see SOB invent something new than see him do a switch crow mobe or switch HS 5.
Old     (andy_nintzel)      Join Date: Sep 2004 Location: Minnesnowda       01-07-2009, 1:30 PM Reply
I think that learning a trick switch really just shows how freaking good you are at wakeboarding. If you can get over the mind jar of learning it switch it really show off oyur ability to ride.

Just my 2 Cents

i'll just combine my $0.02 with Andy's cuz thats how i feel about switch and nothing is more badass than when you see someone layin it down one move at a time regular and then switch.. SICK

HS Slob front flip 180 to HS Half Cab Slob front Flip, just plain bad A$$.

I hear you guys. I love Rathy's section in PP where they show him doing back to back tricks like whiry's, BS 5's, pete's, 7's, etc. But at the same time I respect people who want to learn other stuff and not repeat every single trick in their bag. I think Murray is the same way. Could Murray learn a switch whirly (maybe he can do one already I'm not sure)? I would bet yes he could learn it but maybe he would rather learn something else or something new that is more fun for him. Just my $.02!

Sometimes back to back mirror tricks are cool but for the most part I feel like people use them to show off cuz some switch tricks just look unenjoyable.

I'm not good at wakeboarding but coming from snowboarding some switch tricks are fun and some are not and I know I'll feel the same when I get better at wakeboarding.

I went OWA camp as well, Sean really is that damn good. I was gob smacked watching him ride. Grab toe 900 of the first double up, grab heel 900 of the next. Then i asked him to do my fav trick of all time a dum dum, he said he hadnt tried one in 2 years, and nailed if first shot. His riding speaks for its self, he makes it look easy, but he needs to promote himself more, but i don't think thats his style. Im going back again soon.

Darran, ya that is a bigworm, or toe whirly, he has them on lock. Crazy looking trick from the boat.

I got to meet Sean up here in VA a couple summers ago. He did a few sessions with a local group here. Super nice down to earth guy and amazing to watch. Very smooth.

All of Sean's videos are on youtube.com now, with a few extras we added, under our orlandowake name. Most of them are in a higher quality.

Thanks for all the responses!

Sean is super sick. I have ridden with him he grabs everything, goes super big and throws a session like that with almost no crashes. He is one of the most under rated riders there is. This was his first year on tour because he did'nt like the old judging format. Also he stays very busy with his camp Orlando Wake.

Isn't that just a moby dick? You see those grabbed after the handle pass quite a bit, but not as much before...going big...
Old     (wakeriderixi)      Join Date: Jan 2004       01-16-2009, 2:21 PM Reply
I would have called it a Moby Dick, works either way though.

Hey OrlandoWake, how about editing the videos so that at the end of the slow motion there is a live time repeat as well. The slow motion is so slow.

I had the pleasure of meeting Sean and Derek at a "grom day" event in Virginia in 2007. These guys did more good deeds in a day than most people will do in a lifetime. Sean's session behind a totally slammed 'Bu was massive!
Old     (sidekicknicholas)      Join Date: Mar 2007       01-17-2009, 9:07 AM Reply
Ruck did those awhile ago, but I don't think ever named them... I think it maybe different than Mody Dick, the BS3 is late enough where it looks totally different....
Then a whirly might as well be mody dick too, just a different handle pass.

Awesome videos Derek. The Horrified Nights video is still one of my favorite videos of all time. I remember being in my dorm room my freshman year watching that video on Wakeworld just before I went to my first FSU Wakeboard Club meeting. I met Sean at the meeting, and about 15min later I realized that he was the guy from the video. I was like... "You are that guy that is on Wakeworld right now, aren't you?" To this day, Sean is still one of the nicest and most genuine people I have ever met.

Sorry waterdork and nintzel. I was being sarcastic on my earlier post. I should have put a smiley face. If you do get a chance to ride with Sean, ask to see the grabbed big worm.

Paul, you spend too much time on the internet. You need to jump in your car and come up and visit. The snow has been amazing lately.
