Well I do not want to start an arguement but what are your thoughts on the Centurions and Sangers. I am looking for feedback from those who own, tested, or ridden behind one.

Thanks

Sanger has an excellent reputation. I was at a shop in Antioch, CA that at one time sold Centurions and does not now because of the quality and "issues" they had. If you review past discussions you will not see much positive press on Centurion. I am on my second Sanger and have been pleased with the quality.

I am looking for some feedback about the boats, and why you did or did not choose one of them.

Thanks

Sangers are built well and hold up. The wake shape and form is excellent. They designed an excellent hull and have stuck with it. Interior is good quality and components are also good quality. I would say the word of the day is Quality. Dollar to value it's real hard to find another boat that can compair.

centurions fall apart according to most boat shops that service them. sanger build quality is phenominal. great wake with minimal weight. best rough water ride of most any comp boat out there.

Sangers are cool. Only sanger issues in my opinion are the wood stringers, and the low gunnels. Not sure on the hull warranty.

I think centurions problems are due to growing pains, big increase in sales without all the personnel. To say that "most boat shops that service them" say they fall apart is a stretch. How many were actually surveyed? Most boats have alot of the same parts in them from the same suppliers, so its alot about final fit and finish, and how well the rep takes care of problems. I have a '96 centurion elite V-drive and have had no problems with it. I'm sure there are many other satisfied owners out there. ???

Another satisifed Centurion owner here. I have a 2000 Eclipse V drive and the only thing that I really don't like and am dissapointed with is the uplostery they use on the seats. Has not held up very well. Tears too easly and the seams are pulling apart on the rear couch. Getting close to 300 hours and have performed the usually maint on it. Had warranty issues during the period that the dealer and Centurion took care of with flying colors. Lots of extras for the money, boat looks sharp, drives and handles well and the wake is real nice. We really like the boat, and would recommend one.

Centurion: Didn't care for the wake, the way it handled, the way they hold there value, the finish work,AND THE LOCAL DEALER!!!!!This was a few years ago when I drove one.I drove it about 100 yards and I ended the test drive.Hated it.However, they look awesome.
Sanger:Held its value, liked the wake,etc...Hate the local dealer. It's the same one as above.
GET THE SANGER!!!!!!You'll love it.

Will-

I have owned both. First boat was a Centurion Elite Direct Drive. I really had no complaints with the boat. It did everything okay, but not great. Not a ton of storage, ride was okay, wake was okay, not very big, even when weighted down.

I now have a Sanger V 210. Incredible boat. Storage everywhere, incredible wake (weight it down and it compares to about anything), the rough water ride will have you blowing by other tow boats by at least 5 mph when the water gets rough, the fit and finish is second to none.

The wood issue is a non issue, in fact it is why the boat rides so nice. Wood was an issue back in the day, some people just can't let it go.

Drive a Sanger...you'll probably buy it.

What Chuck said-

Since the V-210 was my first comp boat, I've considered 'trading up' thinking that perhaps I'm missing something with a more expensive boat. After looking about, The *only* thing I would consider trading it for is either a V-230(big brother to the V-210) or SAN. I secretly looked at both and realized that what I have is about as close to perfect as I can get. From time to time I'll ride with other people in their boats and I get a bit excited since I get to try something different... by the end of the day I tell myself two things:

1. I'm glad I have a V-210.
2. I can't wait to get back into my V-210.

I've had mine for almost a year and have put about 110 hours on it and I'm more stoked with it today then I was the day I purchased it.
The boat is sick!

Wood issue? yeah, 10-15 years ago... times have changed, things have changed and it's a completely different animal.

Do a search on this board ,try to find an unhappy Sanger owner and see what you come up with. Do the same drill for Centurion

B-

...From a voice of true knowledge....Centurions are what they are, a price point boat. Thats all they should ever be.... Sanger on the other hand is a mid range boat that offers some upper end ammenities...My money, based on wake, and over all performance is definetly on Sanger!

I own a 2002 Centruion Avalanche and I love the boat. I have not had one problem with it "falling appart". I have only had one problem since I bought the boat, tach went out. As for the wake I love it. I dont have to weight the boat down like most do because of the deep v hull. This boat offers plenty of storage and a hugh amount of room in it. Just my $.02. One word of advice, make sure you have a good dealer to deal with and drive as many boats as you can, and then make your decision.

I own a 2002 Centurion Avalanche. Im on my third tranny which is not fineline's fault. I have had numeroius problems with my dealer poor work ethics and even worse mechanical skills when brought to finelines attention I was told to go pack sand. Finally had to take it to another dealer to get the warentee work done right. I love the wake the boat puts out. make sure the dealer is going to step up and fix any problems as they arise.

Everyone is going to have their own opinion on which is better so, to each their own. I just sold me 1996 ski centurion, and bought a 2003 V210, and I love it. Now I am sure I would have felt like I was in heaven also if I went from my old centurion to a new Avalanche. I did not test drive the new Centurion, so I can't comment on it's ride. My Sanger feels much more solid than my '96 Centurion. I did test drive the V Pro Sky Supreme (which in my opinion was nicer than the Centurion) and the Sanger blew it away! Test drive both and see what you think.

I had a 1999 Centurion Elite D-Drive. Just sold it and bought (dad bought) me a 2003 VLX. I looked at the SAN, X-2, V210/V230 and ended up with the VLX. I love the size as it is a little bigger than the SAN and X2.

Sangers are AWSOME boats. The wakes are killer with little weight and the quality is top notch. If there wasnt a local malibu dealer I would have gone with the Sanger. GO WITH THE SANGER! I know then new centurions are nice boats but my 99 had some problems with little hours on it.
