A buddy of mine has a 2001 Sky Supreme and his steering cable is shot. I guess the manufacturer is out of biz, and I'm trying to help him find the cable -does anyone know of a place we can find either the steering cable itself, or at least a part #?
Thanks

Doesn't look too "out of biz" to me...perhaps you meant the dealer...Maybe this is a good place to start.

The part number is on the old cable...it might be a Quicksilver cable...supreme used those for a few years around that time. Either way, a new cable kit should be a very easy find.

Thanks guys.
Meathead -any idea where I may be able to find the cable? My buddy is in Mexico so I would have to pick it up for him, or have it shipped.

I replaced the steering cable on my 2001 sky supreme with an off the shelf one from westmarine:

http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/producte/10001/-1/10001/26935/377%20710/0/steering%20cable/Primary%20Search/mode%20matchallpartial/0/0?N=377%20710&Ne=0&Ntt=steering%20cable&Ntk=Primar y%20Search&Ntx=mode%20matchallpartial&Nao=0&Ns=0&k eyword=steering%20cable&isLTokenURL=true&storeNum= 6&subdeptNum=222&classNum=693

Unfortunately I can't remember what the length was.

Ski supreme didn't go out of business but it did get sold a couple of times since 2001 and they don't always have the old info anymore.

West Marine should have it. The link above shows a rotary cable, however, you are looking for a rack and pinion cable.

If he can crawl under the dash, the cable number should be printed right on the sleeve of the cable near the helm unit.
