I'm in no way associated with this listing and don't know any more than it shows, but depending on how much work really needs to be done, this could be a heck of a deal for someone who knows their way around an engine. The listing price is about half of what you'd expect to pay for the boat.

I have the Moomba version of that boat in great condition for $7500. That is steep for a boat that needs so much work. IMO

I was wondering what the "Moomba version" is supposed to mean as well.

Can't see calling it steep without a lot more info. That boat in decent condition will run at least $8-10k more than that price. If the interior is trashed along with the motor needing a rebuild, then you might be right. But you can't tell anything about the condition of the interior or hull from those pics other than that the engine cover actually looks pretty decent.

I could certainly be off base but I looked at a 205 just before I bought my Moomba 3 years ago and it was in great shape. They only wanted $9k for it at that time for the 2005. Guess I should have bought it...

No, you don't have the "Moomba version" of that boat.

The 205 is 20 1/2' with an open bow. The hull is fairly legendary, as it's the exact same hull that became the orginal X-star. Someone can double check me on that. I believe the 205 changed for the 96 model year. - Edit: double checked myself and I was right. The hull was upgraded for that model year and remained unchanged for several years as the basis for several different models.

You might compare the Boomerang to the Prostar 190 and the prices will be similar there. As for whether you should have bought the 205, depends on what year it was.

It is near impossible to find that hull anywhere for less that 14k. That is a screaming deal. We sold our 97 205 back in 2001. My dad and i just spotted it on craigslist a couple months ago selling for roughly the same price.

there is no mention of a trailer in the ad. A lot of people that lease those slips year round don't have trailers

I'm just guessing but there's always more to the story.

haha the moomba version. thats soo funny.
i would love to trade up for a 95-98 sport nautique or a 205. probably wont be trading up for a boomerang.
how can you tell its in terrible shape?
motor is 2k. if you do it yourself.

DG is correct. MC started the hull in 96 and it remains the same. 205DD,205V,Xstar,X2, and now the X1.

and there was no Moomba equivalent back then.

you gotta wonder why it already needs a motor . Either ragged out , or improper care . Im goin with the second just from seein the pic of the interior !!!

DG, yes that is the same hull as the current X1. They made the change in 1996. I owned a 96 prior to my 01 Xstar (same hull) and my now 06 X1. It is a great hull and if you can rebuild the engine for 2K or less with 8K in the boat and 4K in adds (tower, board racks, ballast system) you will have an AWESOME boat for 14K.

just emailed the guy no trailer.

theres at least 1500 bucks ritht there so now its almost a 9500 $ boat before you put a motor in it.

ill pass on it. but if i where in texas and near that boat a sbc would not cost that much to swap in. looks like its a vortec motor though could be a lil more pricey. but still its a mastercraft! they hold value
