Sub + Wetsounds speakers

My friend just gave me a sub to use with my boat. I was wondering how I should amp it. Should I get an additional amp for the sub, or get a 5 channel amp for the speakers and sub. The sub is rated for 200w RMS and the wetsounds pro 80s are rated for 175w rms each. I was looking at a HIFONICS ZXI8006 which is a 5 channel amp that could push 200w RMS to each speaker. What do you guys think?

I have that amp pushing four polk momo 6.5 cabin speakers and a 12W6 JL. It works great, no problems at all in two seasons but doesn't have the ass to push the sub I am running. Should be just about right with yours, though, supposed to be 300watts at 2 ohms. It gets a bit flabby in the bass when I push it, but it is a great amp for very little bucks. I opened it up and checked it out before I put it in the boat. It is definitely third world inside but it is done right, big parts, transistors and heat sinks. My sub is rated for 500 watts and needs more than this amp can deliver, but a 200 watt sub would be perfect with it.

Oh yeah, I think you can bridge the four channels and make a three channel amp out of it, should work fine for what you want. If you want more power, you should get a high powered two channel for the pro 80's and a class d single channel for the sub.

Thats what I was thinking Psyclone. It says 220w x 2 when bridged and 1 x 200w mono. I am assuming that is RMS.

I am not a big fan of these "combo" amps. The larger four channel amps seem to be the most conventient amp to run for everything but subs. I really like running a class D to the subs for their power utilization efficiency. My cheapie HiFonics BX1500D does quite well pushing a couple Alpine Type R 12" subs (1000w/2 @ 2 ohms). I had a HiFonics ZX6400 pushing my tower last season but it started shutting off toward the end of the season. I would guess that the ZXI8006 has the same 4 channel section as the ZX6400? I might lean toward the Phoenix Gold or Rockford Fosgate four channel amps if I were doing it again. I currently run Avionixx amps but they are not for everybody so I hesitate on recommending them in general.
