Okay here we go. Show off your boat, BUT!, it must be old school...1996 and older. A lot of us have such nice boats, build with care, that we worry every time we think of getting something newer. Are they worth 60K,? Yes and no...

95 Sport Nautique... and its for sale. I will miss her!!! With "Skybox" seating before Tige stole my idea...

Old     (ladythump)      Join Date: Jul 2004       02-22-2005, 7:59 AM Reply
TR- how did you make that skybox seating??
Old     (biz)      Join Date: Mar 2004       02-22-2005, 10:27 AM Reply
I modified the base of the rear seat by cutting out the two pieces that ran front to rear and putting a support running the width of the base for the new piece and the original rear seat cushions to rest on, the new piece is the longer, skinnier piece. I gained more storage by doing this as well. The base unit fits under the back cushion when the whole base unit is not pulled out. The rear back cushion (where your back rests against, was also altered I cut about 4" of the bottom). I just pull the rear seat towards the engine box and use that as the back rest. I never made any backrests for the sides between the motor box and the gunnels just because i did not really need them. Two people can use the motor box as a back rest. The way it panned out was people can still move around the boat and not have to step over a side back rest to get to the back of the boat. There is also space between the rear seat and the back of the boat to put your feet and step from the inside of the boat to the swim platform. If i only have a couple of people with me i put a tube sac here and it fits perfect, that along with the other tube sac i put in my ski locker and other assorted hidden ballast leaves a lot of room to move around (i.e no huge sacs to step over all the time) and the boat still puts out a great wake. I also had to modify the side pieces below rear speaker. In 95 they had that piece extend to the floor. I cut that piece (it had no structural integrity to worry about)and restapled the vinyl. A bonus is there is enough room to stretch out and use the rear eat as a sunpad/napzone. a couple more pics....

TR-
I don't know if I can do that with my Brendella.
What size is your boat? I like the idea though.
My rear seat is just one piece that lies right on the floor.

Post or PM me pics of your interior... I have a lot of ideas that I could not/did not use in my boat. You may want to start another thread (as to not hijack ths one or do a search on interior modifications and see what that pulls up. A lot of people have done some great mods on this message board. Kinda just depends on what you have as your end goal... Mine was space.

i will have to send you some pics because I don't have any with me right now.
I was hoping to turn the back seat around and allow for sack back there without sacraficing much room. But in a 20ft boat, there is only so much room to go around.

Adam that is one of my favorite boats of all time! I grew up spending a big chunk of my summers growing up on a 200 acre lake, and in 1976 (I was 6) a couple guys across the lake bought a brand new red Stars and Stripes and put in a slalom course. It was the first V8 on the lake! I grew up watching those guys ski and used to just about kill myself to get down on the dock when I saw them so I could watch and listen to the beautiful music of that 351 dual exhuast as they turned around at 36mph right in front of our dock. They still have it, it has over 4000 hours on it now (2 or 3 engine rebuilds), faded and scratched but runs like a champ. I think they may be to blame for my love of ski boats...

Gordon, that's a beautiful Silver, too! I've heard of them, but that's the first one I've seen. I love it! Of course my opinion is a little biased... ;)

Man if '96 is old school, what the hell are our boats from the '70s and '80s? ;)

Adam,
That is a classic Master Craft if I've ever seen one. Looks to be in beautiful shape. How tall is that tower though? It looks ginormous!

Adam-
That is one of the tallest towers I think I have ever seen. Is it custom made?

Thanks for all the feed back on the old pro comp. Hooked me good and proper. Mates have her now, and they were the one's responseable for the custom made tower. It's only my opinion but i also think they went a little large on the stainless. Stands a good 7ft from the floor.

Ant bug.Thanks.

Adam - your tower looks taller than that. I would say seven feet from the base of the tower/top deck. prob more like 10 ft from the floor! Nice boat, nonetheless. I need to put up some pics of '86 MC.
Old    tea_boy            03-05-2005, 3:02 AM Reply
It's only 7ft from the floor, just the camera angle makeing the boat look small I think, will try and look out some more pics.
