I hve tried a couple raleys but i get extended out and the try to stop but just keep on going over like a weird back roll... landing that way isnt any fun how do i stop. or what am i doing wrongly phill

You need to avoid leading the cut out and away and keep you hands and you head centered up towards the boat all the way thru the trick. When you make your cut concentrate on pulling/cutting like you want to get pulled forward NOT like you are trying to release the tip of the board first (like a backroll).

It sounds like you're taking off with too much weight on your back foot. This will cause you to rotate and throw your balance off. A raley requires leaving the wake with more weight on your front foot than usual. If you can get some video of you doing the trick, look at it as you leave the wake and see if the nose of the board goes up. If it does, then put more weight on your front foot. The board should explode off of the wake directly behind you.
