Riding Sierra on Sunday

We'll be at Heavenly on Sat. Me, my wife, Kaben and Brit, Brian and his wife, and a few others.

Rock garden still? I haven't looked at the others, but Kirkwood got 7 feet in the last seven days.

Damn, 5-7 feet. Send some of that snow on to CO. We haven't even gotten half of that all year...

You guys can have all the crowds. Supposed to be clear saturday. That should bring all the wally's.

Then the storms come back, fill in all your tracks for me to get there on Wednesday. He, he, he.

I can't wait. First good powder riding this year.

Joking aside.. Have fun everyone. Should be epic riding. Be safe. I wish I was going this weekend, too, but back to back trips aren't in the cards. Now, if I brought home some extra gear with me and I could ride South Lake with the homies, that might be a different story. Why do I never do that??? Oh well.

I was looking at the web cams questioning the claims, too. They kept saying this was a 10' storm. Looked more like a 2-3' storm to me. Not sure if it's being blown around, or what.

We need a local to chime and get us the scoop. Scotty?

I know the central sierra has gotten huge amounts. I live about 20 minutes from Dodge Ridge and they have gotten over 6 feet since Sunday night...the riding is epic. I have numerous feet at my house and it is only at about 4.000 feet. I can only guess that Tahoe has more.

Riding at Sugarbowl on Sunday. 4th time there this season. They have had plenty of snow all season. Sunday should be a great day. Everyone have a good time at Heavenly and South Lake. I would like to spend the entire weekend at the resorts, but kids sports seem to always get in the way.

I was getting my snow report emails from heavenly all week. Between monday and thursday it tallied up to 4 feet plus whatever they got last night and today.

I checked out hwy 4 too. Chain control was 1.5 miles up from Murphys!! That's like 3000 feet.

This might be the best riding of the year. Crowds could interfere, but I rode the day after xmas and it was empty....so ya never know. I'll be there when they turn the lifts on.

Traffic doesn't look too bad right now.

This storm has been cold for sure. It was like 44 degrees when I went home last night.

I can't wait till next week.

Nice B.

im still thinking sunday monday for myself and the fact that there will be no crowd is looking even better for a monday ride.

Brian, I'm sure that's not a problem.

I was looking at the cams from further up the mountain. Probably just a bit before the rush. South shore looked pretty crowded on 50, but 80 was suprisingly empty. I'm sure that'll change.

Snow level had to be low. The clouds finally cleared around Diablo. Plenty of snow. I'd say around 2,500-ish snow level. Should make for nice light powder.

Just got the full report from a friend in the mountains. He said it's deep.

We are heading up to South Lake this afternoon and riding Sierra tomorrow. Looking forward to fresh snow.

I'd say 4-5 feet up high total. Not even close to original predictions. We got 18-24" in town. Tahoe is officaially Wally World at this point in time, specifically Squaw Valley USA. I will not be going out to a resort until next week. It was REALLY good up here all week though...

Crazy crowds today, but really thinned out after 2. Northstar was the best snow I've had in years.

Scotty.... I'll be ready to ride thursday and friday. Let' man. It's been too long. Looks like some great fresh coming in today and tomorrow. After today, Wally World should be closed for the week.

Nightmare leaving Sierra on Sunday. 2 hours just to get to highway 50. After that just slow driving on the snowy highway. However, the snow was epic all day.

Haha It was jong central out there this weekend!

good things the people that go once a year already went this weekend. Now we can have the mountains to ourselves the rest of the year.

since the vultures were out sat and tracked out almost all of the mountains and jongs everywere we bounced at 11:30 and made it home in 3.5 hrs

JR, I hear ya man... I've started leaving around 8pm on sunday nights. If you're not gone by noon, you're S.O.L.

We hit traffic going through Vallejo at 11pm a few weeks back. Craziness.

Linda, you guys still have Justin's 168? If so, and he's still not into it, I'd love to come by and grab it one night this week. Just let me know what you want for it.

Evan, yea its still in the garage. Give me a call or send me an email. We have basketball games almost every evening, but I could still get it to you.

That's a good program JR. I've done it a few times. Only bad when you get burried in snow and have to dig out at 5am. I did that once and decided that if it's snowing I split late the night before.

Linda, I'll give you a shout. Thanks.
