Show your Golf Cart

I know this is a bit off topic, but in sticking with some recent themes, I figured it could be fun. I am sure some fellow WW's are rolling on golf carts. Here is our new build with the color matched to the new Camaro Synergy. 6 inch lift, 12's, speed chip, .....anyone else? We use ours at the campground we belong to at Lake Gaston, NC. I hope to get some better pics soon!

Man that is cool. I have bad experiences with golf carts though. I try to stay away

6" lift, stereo, lights, tow hitch, etc etc.

not exactly a golf cart but I figured close enough to contribute.

Just got it this week. the "nautique" was done one letter at a time. So its not perfect but works none the less....

Cool thread, I have been thinking of starting a golf cart project just for the camp ground. I have also thought about a Sedgeway for running around campground.

When we get to the campground, we park the truck and never use it again for days on end. Everyone has carts...its a blast, but we have had our incidents too. I'm about to install some green led's under ours in a few spots too. Thats my next little project.

In Oklahoma if you put blinkers on your Sidexside you can get them street legal, (Low Speed Vehicle )Camp grounds cant restrict you from riding a street legal vehicle..
We are a few miles south of little Sahara Sand dunes so in that particular photo it has sand stars on it...

Obtw this year we converted it to a 4seater...

Now there's an idea. Some LEDs would look great. Too many "projects".. not enough money!!

Gravity, It is a wrap to hide the scratches.... $125 Ebay....

The first one went through a few different phases. Lifted with 27's, still lifted with 26's, then no lift and 12" wheels with 205/30's. At the lower look, it ran 35 with a "Raptor" motor from Hi-Torque and 750A controller.





This one had the 23hp Briggs V-Twin that I added a cam/rev kit to. It was about 32hp, and ran about 60mph. Talk about unsafe, me and a friend almost died in it, so it soon went up for sale. These carts are extremely unstable when lifted and made to be faster.

John, that orange and black cart is a BEAST! Did you mod that yourself? Pretty sick electric set up for sure. I think for the new precedent's theres a drop in motor, with no controller change that puts them to about 42mph or so. (I'm guessing you went with some massive Torque to get those wheels turning) With the cheapo chip, our new one is rolling probably around 23 or so. We mostly are using it for family cruising and running down to the marina/dock. They've closed off most of the trails and stuff, so it wont see much "duty." Glad you posted those up man.

It's a work in process...no offroading here...just trips to the lake and a good mode of transporation from party to party in the summer.

Just took a ride this last weekend in a buddy's RZR. Man that thing is fun! Not $15,000 worth of fun, but fun non the less! Kick in the pants around the sand dunes.

Nice NAW! I agree, board racks are great for bringing the gear down to the lake.

Seriously, I make a good living but what in the world do you guys do for a living to afford all these toys and mods for them? Well done!!!

These things are cool. I love camping and I've never seen an awesome looking cart riding around the grounds like any of these. It's always old people.

I should be picking one up in the next week or so... No legitimate uses for one, except my wife will enjoy driving it.

I dont use it for golf but we ride in the neighborhood parades and bon fires. Had to go with tiger stripes big Auburn fans. WAR EAGLE

The 27's were way too big, it didn't like those much. With the 26" Mud-Lites, I had to weld the leaf spring perch to the springs because the motor had enough torque to twist the axle, the u-bolts wouldn't hold.

I did all the work myself. Back when I built teh cart, my parents owned www.stevescartshop.com. We were one of the top cart part sales sites on the net, competing with Buggies Unlimited, and it was ran out of a 2-car garage It's still local to me, and I'm actually picking up parts for a new cart project tomorrow. If anyone ever needs anything from there hit me up.

Your Precent looks pretty cool too. There's one locally that's got 14" wheels on 23" tires and a 4" lift.

Do you have any closeup pics of your front suspension? I have the same lift as you and my tie rods hit my front leaf springs

I've seen you & your cart on BuggiesGoneWild. That thing is sweet. You did a great job on it.

My first cart. 4" lift, governor removed (does about 25 mph), SkySki rack & paddleboard rack, reupholstered the seat, installed a swimstep, and an MP3 player system.

Lookin forward to doing another one next winter too.

a razor i airbrushed a year or so back. thought razor blades would look cool..

I picked this up last night.

I don't know if any of you guys know Bishop from Axis, but when I first bought this cart, it had little pizza cutter mud tires on it. We unloaded it in Bishop's neighborhood and it took less than 30 seconds before Bishop flipped the damned thing on the street with both of us in it. I hadn't even driven it yet...

I picked up this 99 Club Car DS for the wife the other day... It's been a lot of fun so far... I was really surprised at how capable it is off-road.

Picked up another one last week. 2002 EZ-Go 36V PDS, no batteries, 30 pounds of dirt.







After a good clean-up, new Crown 8V batteries, 500A Alltrax controller, upped to 48V with stock motor, 12" wheels, trailer hitch, and new wiring:







body is being painted a burgundy pearl and black 2-tone with light grey pinstripe between body lines, and a whole bunch of stainless parts. Should be done next week sometime.

That's right Jake, it's the heart of an electric golf cart. Electric carts consist of the batteries, controller, motor, forward/reverse switch, and solenoid. The solenoid is what's mounted on top of my controller and is a heavy duty model since I upgraded the controller. The cart originally came with 6 6V batteries, a 36V motor, and 275A controller. I'm using the stock motor, but upped the cart to 48V with 6 new 8V batteries. To make that happen, I used the 500A controller that's programmable by laptop, and the hd solenoid. With the motor having more voltage on it, there's a ton more torque and a little more speed. This is only a mild upgrade. There are lots of people running 72V or 108V. Some are running 48V, with a 36 or 48V boost (boost is programmable to only happen at full throttle).

My family started and ran stevescartshop.com for about 5 years, then retired and sold out. It's still local, so some parts come through there. A lot of the custom stuff came from sponsors on the BGW forum. I try to get all I can from the locals, not to mention I'm still getting stuff cheap from the cart shop that we used to own.

This cart was bought as it sat with no batteries for $700. If it had batteries that were fair, it would probably go for around $1300-$1500. Clean carts are $2000 and up. It's just the demographics and that changes from place to place.

My painter posted pics of the body after paint, but I don't have them yet. Hopefully I can get them uploaded. New seat covers rolled in yesterday, so all the parts are here to complete it. The only original parts will be the frame, front/rear suspension, and motor. Everything else, including the seat frame's, will be stainless.

The next mod will be to lower it and add air-ride suspension. That's about a $300 mod with the Monroe air shocks, and a complete ViAir on-board air system. It'll lay frame and have 6" of lift....

Have any of you used wheels spacers? I'm looking to widen the width of our cart, and came across these:

I've never used them, Blake. But I see a lot of guys using wheel spacers on the Buggiesgonewild.com site. They don't have the weight or horsepower to cause any problems with them like a car or truck does.
I do have offset wheels though. And the additional width definitely restricts where you can & can't go. No loading it in the back of a pickup or a 4x8 golf cart trailer. And no driving on cart or ATV paths where they have the entry or exits restricted by poles spaced 4' apart.

Agree with Bill. It'll be a little more stable if it's lifted, but forget truckbeds and narrow trailers. My cart that had the big block in it had 2" rear spacers. The front was a long-travel so it was a lot wider. Trailriding was a little difficult but it's something you'll figure out.

jonyb, looks like that's going to be a great cart once you're done with it.

I've got that same cart, only green and totally stock other than a rear flip-flop. Since I use it for utility purposes, I've discovered a need to upgrade the suspension. Does that air suspension also add load capacity? Does it come as a complete kit?

Joe, it's something that I'm putting together. Not totally my idea, the guys on Buggies Gone Wild have done it. To beef up the rear suspension, you can either use heavy duty spring packs, or add the air shocks and just air them up as needed. The shocks are about $70 a pair from any parts store. They're Monroe MA705 (I think). The airline fitting is 1/8", but I've heard of people making it bigger to accept 1/4" line.

Add a couple valves, a battery to the cart, and the shocks and you'd have a complete system.

48v w/ high speed motor, lights and turn sig's with custom full quill ostrich seats. Just a nice lil ride for the farm.

Bauer, I just picked up an almost stock 03 club car 48v that had the speed controller turned up a bit, approx 20mph. I want to lower the front end about 1" or so because it sits a little high. Any "cheap" way to do this with standard tools I may have in my garage?

I think you can flip the front leaf springs, but it may be too low after that.

I towed a 6X12 tilt trailer around that had 2 large scoops of mulch with the cart yesterday. It's got a ton of torque and hits almost 30mph with 1 person.
