That's awesome Greg. I think a trip out there might be in a my future next spring. I was thinking there or Austin, TX. Sacrrmento is driving distance though, so it could be a fun road trip. I've hit a bunch of 2.0s but never a full setup. Have you been to the other one (Velocity) at all? How do they compare?

Rich-I haven't been to Velocity Island Park yet. It goes clockwise, which is great if you are regular foot. It is also a lot harder to ride. The rails are all rounded on top instead of being flat and they are higher. It is a little cheaper ($29 for 2 hours I think) but you have to rent a helmet and life jacket if you don't have one. Wake Island provides them. I would probably do WI first to at least get a feel for it and rent a cable board if you don't have one. It makes a huge difference. They do a beginner day on saturday mornings too where they go really slow. I felt like a dork my fist time, but it's a lot of fun and quick progression. I takes me about 9.5 hours for me to drive out there. Hopefully I'll be living there in a few months. There was talk about a park at Utah Lake-even an article on KSL a couple years ago, then I never heard another word about it.

Anyways, anyone in NorCal hit me up if you want to ride.

I just got word that a 2 lake 2.0 type setup is being currently built here in the Salt Lake area. I have seen pictures of digging in process and it's a LOT closer then anybody will think. I can't wait to see this really get done and when they plan to release info on it. I heard all the permits are in place and the green light has been given. I'm sure winter here is halting all progress but interested to see what the spring brings. That's all the info I have for now...

That sounds awesome Greg. I've ridden a few 2.0s but never a full system. I think a spring road trip might be in order. I think the park you're referring to was the attempt in Eagle Mountain. I think that one is dead now.

Josh - That sounds amazing. I look forward to more info. I've had good times driving up to Rexburg, but it's a haul. I'd pay a pretty penny for a season pass if one were in SLC.

I'll keep my fingers crossed

Well, I'm outta here. I'm moving out to northern california. I just wanted to say thanks to everyone on here for making me feel welcome and taking me out on your boats. When I moved to Utah, I had pretty much given up on wakeboarding for way too long before I found out there is a strong community out here. This last year I got to go out with Danny Harf and Shane Bonifay out at Jordanelle, for free even. Hyperlite did a free demo day there, too. Marine Products offers crazy sales on stuff and opportunities to go do these events. Anyways, if anyone wants to ride cable or ride around Sacramento give me a call or email.

Greg ~ Have a great move and hope to don't catch any weather. Don't get out to N. Cali much at all but wondered how the riding scene is. With the help of Marine Products I feel we have a pretty big industry supported scene.

Hey Greg,
Wishing you a safe move to Sac. If you plan on riding on the Delta, I know a cool guy name Douglas Bender who has a boat & rides there. Look him up if you're on FB, and let him know that I referred you to him.

Josh,
Miss you guys A LOT! I've been so busy with work, that I don't even get to really think about riding anymore. It's really sad. I hope my ability to get on the water more here in Japan will get better, but it's so expensive and a hassle since the nearest location is a 2.5hr train ride from where I live. So keep posting up pics because I will have to continue to live vicariously through all of you for now. Peace out!

Shima,
I can't say I would do well losing my option to Wakeboard when I want... but we know family comes first. You know I always have plenty of pictures to share for everybody. I know you wont have a problem getting a ride when you come to town but let me know I'm always happy to take you guys out on the MB.

Well, Mike Rosenberg and I just made it home from a road trip down to San Diego. I'm glad to say I'm graduating from the ranks of a 3rd to a boat owner. I want to say thanks to Shima, Mike, Jerry, Rob, Scott and anyone else that has given me a pull over the past few summers. Let's ride this summer or when you're in town!

I present The Pineapple Man.

Congrats on the new ride Rich! Always been a fan of all white anything. Can't wait to break out the boat for some spring session... soon, very soon. I'm sure you know somebody at Marine Products for a hook up but if you don't hit their website www.marine-products.com and use code DFTR2015 for a great discount. If anything they sell Boat Bling and it's the largest discount I can find with the code. Let's see that bad boy on the water!

Thanks Josh. That code will come in handy. I used to have one from Ryan, but I'm not sure where it is. Currently the boat has factory ballast, which means I'll be buying some fly high gear soon.

Spring is in the air! I love snowboarding and all, but can't wait to get out on the water.

Sorry I'm so late to this thread, but want to give Rich a HUGE congrats! Very few things come close to the feeling of becoming a boat owner.

I can't wait to get my new stick wet behind her! See what I did there.......haha!

See you boys in a few weeks, will be back in SLC from March 27-April 11, and May 17-June 12.

Haha, tricky tricky. That's rad Ryan. That's a solid month of fair weather riding in may/june.

I just got in my wakemakers tankbuster kits. Boat should be ready to go well before then.

Right on Rich, but my riding time is going to be very limited since I will be getting the house ready to be moved out, Taylor's graduation ceremony and party, plus getting the family ready to make the move to Japan. But I do hope to get in as much riding as I can, when it's possible for me to get away.

See you soon!

For sure Rich, and thanks for the invite. I know Hide would like to ride as well since she couldn't really break-in her new setup last year because of her injured shoulder. Where are you planning to tow her and ride mainly?

Early season we'll probably be towing to Willard and some Jordanelle. Once its warm enough I'm planning on parking it at East Canyon.

Ok fellas, it's exactly 2 weeks until I'm back in Utah!

How's the weather been lately, and is anyone planning on having their boats ready to roll between March 28-April10th?

I won't have many opportunities to ride, but want to make the most out of the times that I do. So if any of you have space for me and Hideko, we'd love to grab some sessions with you.

Let me know, can't wait to see you all!

Weather has been AWESOME but we could use some water. Jordanelle is pretty low waiting for the run off and DC is surprisingly full but have to deal with the decon process now. When you get here is the time I should be rolling out MB out for the season, for sure will keep you guys in mind.

Villagers were found and it's a mandatory process from now on. Right now you can't even launch at the Island resort so they can control this process. This will sure make for a summer of hell waiting in line to get sprayed.

I wonder if this will make going to DC less desirable for some, and the result will be a less crowded lake??? If that happens, Jordanelle will be even more crowded

Once people find their in line for quite awhile getting the deacon done it's going to blow Jordanelle up I'm sure. We all know next on the deacon list is Jordanelle!

I'm sure most on here have a dealing with Marine Products in one way or another. Just want to throw it out there if you shop online at www.marine-products.com save a little money and use discount code DFTR2015 for your gear (online only). Also check out www.lifeformled.com, using the same code DFTR2015 will save you a ton if you're looking for underwater lighting for your boat.

Your MB is looking good Josh. We hit Willard last weekend. Pretty comfy overall. We had one guy in just a neo top and another in just their vest. I rocked a full suit, but it may have been overkill. Too bad the weather this weekend is looking rainy.

Willard is looking good out of the North Marina. Depth around the dock is about 7'. Ramp is launching 2 boats at a time. Water temp was in the low 60s, which was nice. Lots of fisherman lately though

Hey guys, looking for some advice here. We normally just buy a state parks pass and boat at Willard bay, but online the ramps are officially "closed" still. I see above someone said the water was like 7' or so at the dock, but do you all think that will last? I prefer Willard to Pineview as Pineview is a sh** show of boats, but at least it looks like there is water there. If it ever stops raining Im gonna have to buy a pass to somewhere... any advice from people who have actually been out this year?
Old     (ryan_shima1)      Join Date: Sep 2002 Location: Layton, Utah       05-22-2015, 7:04 AM Reply
Alex, just remember that the UT State Parks pass works at all state parks (except Pineview, Echo & Powell - those aren't state parks). So to me, it's a good investment to get the pass, and you also get 13 months to use it. Just a tip, get the pass at the beginning of the month, that way you get a full extra month and money's worth.

About Willard, the water level has come up over the past month, and I assume with all this rain, it will come up a little more but won't hit 100% capacity. I would assume the water level will taper off within the month, and start to drop around mid-late June. However, if you know how to navigate the marina, even when the water drops, once you get in the main lake, you'll be fine. It's just a matter of knowing where to position your boat in the marina & channel to the main lake when the water gets low.

Anybody been to Powell yet? Well except Glen, I seen his Tige on the road to Powell. The water is rising fast and plenty of water to play. While there for a week I'm sure we gained 2' of water depth and about lost 6' of shoreline. If anybody is staying away due to low water don't do it!

We were at Powell all last week. Amazing weather. High 90s. No wind all week (33 years, that may be a first). Had glass on the channel at midday. You're right, water levels are decent, and rising fast.

Hey everyone. The job didn't work out in Cali so I'm back in Utah. Gonna miss the cable life for sure, but excited to be back in UT too. Let me know if anyone has room for 1 more or even wants to do a road trip to Sacramento to ride cable. I have a season pass that's good through november so I'd like to make a few quick trips. I haven't ridden behind a boat for a year, but would love to some time. Also, in NorCal there was a Facebook group (W.E.S.T.) that made it easy to keep in touch and pass on promotions and stuff going on. Anybody know of anything like that here? Thanks.

Welcome back Greg! Unfortunately, I don't have a boat anymore so I'm at the mercy of getting hookups with friends as well.

Just got back from a short trip to Wisconsin to judge a wakeboard tournament at Fort Fremont Marine. Got a chance to session the new Supra SE550 and the wake is no joke!

Just surf or wake also?

Josh, did both, and the wake was money on both. Posted pics on my FB page. And when I was wakeboarding, the rear ballast was only at 30-50% and it was nice when the water was deep. I wish I would've had the chance to try it at 100%.

I'm planning a quick cable trip to Sacramento Aug 12 if anyone wants to go. I'll drive the 12th, ride 13-14th and come back the 15th.

Hey guys, here's the link to the video I just uploaded to Youtube for the MasterCraft Throw Down from this past Saturday. It's the live TV footage, but I missed heat #1 of the prelims between Aaron Rathy and Shota Tezuka.

Looking at Jeff Langley's new model The Rome 138cm at the suggestion of the R&D director, but also Parker Siegele's new pro model Revo 139cm. And of course, I'm stoked that they kept the Format in the line up since that's been my ride since 2011.

If you want, you can demo my Contra since I know you like a 3 Stage board. I'm sticking with a board with a progressive rocker since I know without a doubt that it's what I like.

I would like to get into winching. Does anyone know of someone around here that does it? It would be good to try it out and see how it's done before I go investing in one.
