I notice that certain pros do certain tricks with a lot more style than others, or with a different style, or just way more often, for instance, I thought of this when I saw Clear Lake Pt. 2 [http://www.alliancewake.com/video_details_extreme.php?id=3831] a lot of people were doing T/S B/S spins, in my mind, Harf pretty much owns T/S Backside, of course its all up to interpretation/opionion, but whenever I see a T/S backside spin I think harf. Another one is Chad Sharpe and Tail Glides/Indy/any Grab Glides, Shaun Murray and surface tricks and Raleys. I was just wondering if anyone else sees riders that do certain tricks better than others.

Almost forgot Soven and Whirly/Tweetybirds
A.A. and those Ole Back mobes he does.

I like Necrason's Elephants, Trevor Hanson's Whirly's, Sanders' 313 and I will agree with you on Harf and Sharpe. Sharpe takes his glides bigger than anybody I have seen. Oh yeah, and Lyman's Toe Front Stale (Harf and Parks do that move well too). That is my standard list and I have posted most of these up before. But in just about any video section, I will stop what I am doing and watch these riders do these moves.

Rusty is owning in the spinning department right now.

Shane Bonifay's precision grabbing.

I'd say Soven and all of the mobes he does and his consistency.

Are you saying general tricks or individual tricks also?

yea Shanes nose press is pretty cool.

Theres some pretty cool moby's thrown in this video here [http://www.wakeworld.com/galleries/getimage.asp?galleryid=400&imageid=9], I think one of them might have been Nintzel [blue/green O'b board w/ the lime green bindings?], I belive theres a Necrason Elephant in this video aswell, and I remember a discussion a while back about how the Nuke grab is not W.C.-styleish at all, towards the end of this video Lyman throws one.

Murray does surface tricks that are pretty cool, tug the rope, then ollie 360 over it, those tumble turns...

Almost Forgot, Watkins- S-Bend.

Just double checked and I messed up the names, Ricky G is the one throwing the cool Moby dicks, Gerry Nunn is doing the elephant, and It's not Lyman, it's Sean O'b.

Whatever that trick Colin Harrington busted out in the Truth in SLOWMOTION in front of that tube...i think it was a HS 540, but when he was facing away from the boat be basically touched the tip of his board to his lower back tweaking it... i think thats one of the coolest things i've ever seen

Seems like SOB has the best line tension abilities when it comes to throwing 'air' tricks (not using the wake). Maybe there is someone better, but I'm just going off what I've seen.

Some of my favorite stuff to watch...

byerly's front to fakie is the sickest trick in the world.
darin does the sickest s-bend
Old     (focker)      Join Date: Aug 2006       06-27-2008, 1:21 AM Reply
nice jason! going old school...

To follow up there, I always thought Byerly's toe off 5's with a late indy grab, while a little unorthodox, were super pimp. And you can't forget Gator and his heel 5/hoochie to fakie/ and monster Pete Rose's he used to launch of the double ups.

I also forgot Collin Wright, I believe in 12 Honkey's he does a legit method, to indy, to blind. I definitely rewinded that about 5x when I saw that...
Old     (to_blind)      Join Date: Mar 2007       06-27-2008, 9:22 AM Reply
Collin Wright, for whatever reason, sometimes falls through the cracks...the guy is a legend and if "line control" is a trick, does it best...shifties and rewinds are a lost art!

I vote Soven- T/S Nuclear Backroll2Blind

Lyman- Wake2Rail Transfers

Harf- 1080's

Henshaw- Rails, in the truth I remember he did this insane backside board thant turned into a blind switch nosepress, then he 270'd off

harf's oa toe back 3's are insane.(errington's too)
corey bradley does a sick oa back 7.
shanes nuke/nose toe back.
harf/parks/lyman front to fakie
rusty's nuke glide
benny g's methods, ts spins,ole 7's, pete, & ts indy r2r
d cooks glides and batwing to blind and bs3 are super legit.
watsons ole spins
dean smiths tanny 2blind out in the flats

i could list them all day long. if i had to pick one rider to watch over and over it would be harf. he's got such a distinct style that even if you cant see his face you can tell its him just by the way he spins and grabs his tricks.

is saying Chad Sharpe's Indy Double Backroll a loaded answer?
Old     (dnp33)      Join Date: Jan 2007       06-27-2008, 1:58 PM Reply
i cant believe no one has mentioned shapiro's speedball.
if anyone has ever owned a trick it is definately shapiro's speedball.
also, no one throw's an s-bend 5 like shapiro, and nobody does rope over spins anymore.
when it comes to owning tricks i think shapiro wins.

the vandall owns the flats.
Old     (srh00z)      Join Date: Jun 2003       06-27-2008, 2:16 PM Reply
I think that Shapiro owns most of the Raley based tricks, he just powers through them, lots of amplitude.

I can't believe how many posts it took before someone mentioned Benny G's poked and grabbed tricks. He makes damn near everything look cool.

Murray makes riding look fun no matter what he's doing. Watching Murray ride makes me want to be on the water.

Lyman and Harris for big air/wow factor.

Not totally on topic with the original post, but some Older School:

Eric Perez's Blender
Jeremy Kovac's Mobe 5 (landing with back hand on rope) and Slowball
Shapiro's Speedball
Weddington's Fronts
Cobe's Crail Tannys
Randy Harris' methods off the dub
Gator's giant front 180s off the dub
Just about anything Byerly did from 95-99

Batwing2Blind- Chad Sharpe, its onwe fluid motion, pretty cool. [http://videos.wakeboardingmag.com/viewVideo.php?video_id=684&title=Ronix_team_shoot_ in_Washington_Surreal_Session] @ 1:52.

Greg Nelson - toeside back to revert (mute)
Shapiro - tantrum to blind (like 20 feet in the flats!)
Bonifay - Whirly 720, off-axis back 3
