I found a site with the APX 480M and 280 M at blowout prices.... First are they good? Next Im trying to make a decent setup on a budget. I have 6 interior speakers in the boat, I have two JL 7.7 for the tower and will be putting in a small sub.

Do you think its better to get two 4 channel amps? One for the boat speakers and the other for the tower and sub(Sub bridged on 3 and 4) or get one 4 channel for the boat and two 2 channel--one for the tower and one for the sub. Would a duel battery setup and stock alternator be enough for 3 amps?

Thanks

I love those amp, but to be honest, you may want a 4 channel just to power your tower.

To answer your question, there is no reason to get two 2 channels instead of a 4 channel.

IMHO APX480M was one of the most bulletproof amps around.

Go with two apx480m's one for the boat, the other for the tower and sub.

Better yet, get three 480's. One for the tower, one for the boat, and one for a dual 4ohm VC sub (or two subs).

i got 2 apx480s at a great deal on overstock.com a few months back for the money the are working out well. i run 3 sets of wetsounds 650s only two stes of the amp frt set off Head unit,10" clarion sub (soon to be a wetsound) and 2 mb quartz on the tower. im not going to win any stero contest but its pretty fricking loud/clear for a low budget set up.
I run the 2 sets of 650s off half of one amp the sub off the other half. and the second amp runs the tower. the whole amp is too much for my MB quatrz but when i get my pro 485 i will turn the amp up!
