Which camcorder tower mount is the best? I've seen one called the "Air Trakker" in Overtons for $169.00 any other ideas?

I've never tried a tower mount but have thought it would be nice. I have seen some footage where a tower mount was used and it's not very good. It doesn't look like you can zoom in very close and it's shakey. As far as i know you can't get good footage using one. But i could be way off.

Mike

Talk to John Jared. He uses the Air Trakker (some proto-type model I believe). The footage is not as good as you can do by hand, BUT it does a pretty good job and no one in the boat has to be the cameraman. John has a really sweet set up with a LCD screen for the driver and remote control. Good luck.

First time out this week with the new one that John Jared was talking about. Works a lot better than the one my buddy got last year. I've done better by hand, but also seen a lot worse.
Is a lot less $ from the site here:

Bryan, I think you'll love the mount. I just got the newest version of the mount and I'll be trying it out once the weather here in chicago cooperates. I went for almost a year trying to get people to video. We'd usually watch the video after a day at the lake and more often than not it sucked. I then purchased the mount and that was a lot better. One problem I still had was getting it lined up all the time. It was a little difficult with the little 2.5" LCD on the camera. So then I purchased an LCD screen and I ran the wires thru the tower and into the camera. I then got tired of people forgetting to stop the video using the remote and decided to run the I-Link connection for a hard remote that I put next to the throttle so I could control everything.

I was stuffing the lcd under the windshield surrounding it with towels. I now have the tower lcd mount but since I just got a new 05 X2 I have to get all the wiring done again.

I'll put up another video and tell you what I think of the new mount compared to the old one.
