Here's a pic of yesterdays' wake on Lake Tuscaloosa behind my Outback.

(I forgot one of my sacs at home & we only had 3 people in the boat.)

Looks like you forgot your sacks and your lifejacket! Did you at least bring your rope?

No rope. I like to start off the platform :-)

How do you start off the platform? Sounds dangerous

Yeah, you may want to wear a helmet for that one. I've tried it quite a bit when the water is cold and I'm too much of a pansy to jump in. I usually end up wrecking and in the water anyway but... You start with the board on the platform and all your weight on the nose of the board, get the boat up to speed, and then slowly shift your weight back until you slide off into the wake. I've just missed hitting my head on the platform enough to stop trying-thus the helmet comment.

Tom,

How do you have your ballast set up? Lots of DD folks here on WW trying to figure this out.

Leonard:
When i took these pics, i had a 600lb in the floor. I had a 550 on top of it, towards the front, partially on the observers seat. Then i put a 800 on top of the 600 & the rear seat.
Usually, i throw another 550 (not quite full)in the walk-thru area. That makes the surfable area longer, but over-all height is a few inches shorter.

Hope that made sense...

Tom,

Wow that sounds like almost 2000 lbs all piled along the port side of your boat. Do you have a factory tank underneath your rear seat and is that full as well?

Yep, pretty close. I usually don't pack the 800 very tight. I'd guess 1800 or so total. The rub rail is usually just under the water line at the back!
My boat came with the factory tank... but one of the fittings in it pulled loose & i haven't got it fixed yet. It probably only holds 200lbs with the seat down anyway.
You gotta be very careful (& slow) driving the boat like that. And don't even attempt to turn right very sharp.

WOW, we have done deck starts before, but we use the rope to lean on a little. No rope- you guys are too manly!!

That looks good!! Do you have any idea of his setup? And is it a direct ot v drive?

I'm not totally sure about the setup but, I think about 1500lbs in the bow, and two 750's in the back, and one on the side seat in the middle of the boat right behind the driver's seat. We had four people in the boat, two of them were small! Not sure about the boat, I'll find out.
