advice on a ski purchase

my fatehr-in-law is 52 and has been skiing on a 68 inch taperflex 35 years it was a high end ski at the time.hes 5ft9 150pounds.we want to get him a new one.he skis at 30 to 32mph but doesnt run a slalom course.he's fairly advanced i think.What would be a good ski for him(he seems to think his ski is comparable to those close to a thousand dollars,I DONT. NOR can I afford that. HELP please....
