I'm looking around in the 30k budget range and found an MB Sports 220v with really low hours, tower, ballast, tower speakers, etc. Are these nice boats? Nice as Mastercraft and Nautique?

They are great boats. They are made great also. What is the year on it?

the wake sucks--takes forever to fill the ballast--even if you add 1500lbs, still sucks.
You can find a much better boat for your money.

Mike, MB's are great boats. Remember they are limited production boats so you will get more people saying that they are not good boats than saying they are. I have the B52 Team Edition and the stock wake is HUGE. When I add some sacs it make the wake even bigger. And yes they are as nice as MC, BU's, and SAN. Best way to know is to take it for a test drive and see for yourself. You will not be disappointed. Again there are more MC, BU owners out there than MB owners. Not because they are better, there is just more of them.

You can get a 2002 MC X Star for that price if you want. If you can get the guy to lower then that would be a good boat. If not check this out:

anyone who says the wake sucks (especially with an extra 1500lbs) is either an idiot or hasn't ridden behind one

If it's a pre 04 the wake will have a double lip.

I'm on my third MB boat. I had a 02 B52 up till a few months ago. We put close to 250 hrs on it. It ran perfect. I added a ballast system up front (approx. 500 lbs.) and the wake was really good. The ballast pumps do take time to fill, but 1600 lbs is a lot of water. I would reach down and pull the drain plugs to the ballast tanks and it would fill quick. The double lip that was mentioned is visible from the boat, but has absolutely no affect on wake. I loved that boat. Test drive and ride behind so you can see for yourself.

I disagree about the double lip but GREAT advise about seeing for himself. Or buy a 04 or later and the double lip problem is solved.
