Was in North Carolina for my brother's wedding this weekend - definitely a message that needs to make its way there!

being obese makes them think they have a disease. being fat is really what it is. just more PC bull huckey that probably started here in california.

I always thought of obese as being extraordinarily fat or beyond just fat.

if someone told me i was obese, i would feel just the same as i would if someone told me i was fat but this article definitely has a point. "obese" might make someone believe they have a sickness or unavoidable condition and that is not the proper message.

It was delicious though... But depressing to see parents stuffing their 7year old at waffle house... She is destined for big things some day

From the article-

"The term obesity comes from the Latin word obesus, which roughly translated means intensive eating"

In that context, Obese is a much more brutal word than fat.

I always thought of the degrees of fatness this way.... someone eats too much- they become a bit overweight. They keep getting bigger until they are chubby. then they keep eating till they get fat. Then they keep it up and they become obese. Then they cannot move anymore, keep eating and become morbidly obese.

Obese is always the last step before Gilbert Grapes' mom.

classic. not to get off topic, but this is still one of my favorite Leo Dicaprio movies.

Favorite line from Norm at Cheers....

Sam..."Norm, what's up?"
Norm...."My ideal weight...if I'm 10 feet tall"
