Gas consumption

I currently have a 17ft Bayliner with a 120 outboard. I am looking at an upgrade to a larger boat. Could someone reply with how much gas you typically use on a day of boarding with an inboard and a inboard/outboard. I know "if you have to ask then you can't afford it" but I'm trying to prepare for all of the costs before I take the plunge.

A sacked out wakesetter VLX blows through 35 gallons of gas with 4 people and 3 sets per person. I carry an extra 2 gallons on board to get home on fumes. We also often get more gas at the end of the day, if it is a long day.

I used about 23 gallons w/ 6 people and around 1,000 lbs. put in about 1/2 way through the day. My day was from around 7am to 2 or 3 i think. Elevation of around 1,000 feet. Oh, and pulled some crazy slalom skiers in the morning for a while...which eats gas quicker than unweighted boarding. This is on a '90 sport nautique w/ a 351 non fuel-injected engine.

roughly about 5 gallons per hour with 4peps and 1200 pounds.

we run about 5-7 gallons per hour depending on how much weith we have and how fast and far we go so it depends

Seven gallons an hour is a pretty good estimate for most carburated small block Fords. I would think the injected engines are doing better than that.

~6 gph on a heavily weighted and wedged wakesetter lxi with monsoon EFI engine.

used to ride behind an 18' I/O with a carbed 4 cyl and it burned almost as much gas with no weight.

7 gph with 2000 pounds ballast and 4-5 people.

99 Sport Nautique with GT-40 engine.

There's no way, in my opinion, you can prepare for such costs. There's always, always something you were not prepared for. As far as gas goes, I don't mind how much it is because I draw the line with my boys and even lady friends when we're all on the lake: bring gas $ and beer and i'll bring my boat!

My 1999 Supra Launch will use about 2/3's of a 28 gallon tank in a full day of wakeboarding.
