Boat lifts??

what would be a good lift for a floating dock like out at Lake Mead??hydrohoist??what other brands and systems would work?thanks

I would say the Hydrohoist is probably your best option. That is the next thing on my Christmas list..

any idea on price?i havent been able to find prices anywhere?under 5k>?

I priced 2 last year and they were running right at 4,000.00.

HydroHoists work well and are pretty much the standard here in Discovery Bay. Price for a 6600 lb. capacity UltraLift runs about $6K plus tax and installation. Used ones run about 75% of the price of new.

Be careful to make sure you order enough capacity if you decide to get one. I ordered a 6600 lb. lift for a Donzi 28ZX which the brochure said weighed 5400 lbs. Between the twin engines, fuel load, and other junk on the boat this was not enough. I wound up having to get an 8800 lb. lift. Fortunately for me, the local dealer was cool about it an just charged me the difference in price to bring out a 8800 lb. lift and swap it for the 6600 lb. one.

The new hydrohoist is the way to go. There are virtually no metal parts in the water when it is raised, prevents electrolisis of the bands that were once around the tanks = increased life. The new tanks are UV stabilized poly, better than the old fiberglass that becomes brittle in the sun. I think if your hoist is underweighted it may just take longer to raise, I've seem 3500 lb. boats on 2500 lb. lifts.

I too have a HydroHoist and love it.
Regarding the capacity though, yes be sure to get the right one. Mine works great with boat empty or full but when full with ballast etc, the rudder tip is just touching the water as opposed to no ballast the rudder is up some 12 inches or so. It's a matter of bouyancy or degrees thereof. The pic here is with about 1500 lbs.
