So, i finally came to the realization that I am getting older and won't be wakeboarding too much longer. I have thinking about switching from wakeboarding 80% and surfing 20% to sufing 80% waking 20%. I want have been considering trading the xstar for an 80. How good is the surf wake really on this thing? I really like the idea of having the size and the twin engines, but am curious as to how good the wake is for both surfing and wakeboarding. Any info would be great.

From the lack of replies, I think none has experience with the X-80. Play it safe and go with an Enzo 240 or any other proven 24ft boat(BU, Tige, etc).

Keith, Thanks, I am really wanting to stay with Mastercraft. I don't have anything against the other brands, I am just happy with the service and dealer that I work with. I am also wanting something big, so a 28ft boat seems to fit the bill.

Test drive, bring some xtra sacs and dial it in and see what you think! Take lots of pictures because I'm sure everyone would like to see what that boat can do!

It's going to take tons of weight, to sink that thing, literally.

I would recommend you at least test drive the Centurion Enzo SV240. Lots of room and I suspect quite a savings on price. I have had 2 Mastercrafts in the past and just recently bought a Centurion Enzo SV230. Just my opinon.

The X80 isn't quite as water sports oriented as soemthing as the X-45. Get an x-45 and put some weight in it and have something that doesn't handle like a barge. the 45 has like a 16 person seating capacity anyways, if you want something bigger get a pontoon boat on the side with the money saved.

I'll second the X45. I've never surfed one, but I regularly see one at one of our surf spots. Throws a mean surf wake and you still have plenty of room for your friends/family. I can't even begin to imagine how much extra weight you would need to get a good wave out of an X80 Unless you just absolutely have to have the X Yacht, I would go with an X45 too.

I'm told that you don't need extra weight for an incredible surf wake on the X-80, but I don't have personal experience. The x-45 is great. Demo!

ive had the pleasure of rockin an x80 and the x45. both awesome boats to say the least. if it were my $ and i was stuck on mastercraft, there is no doubt i would absolutely get a new x55. 30" draft compared to the 28" my current boat has tells me mastercraft has surf on their minds.

@dan That's exactly what I did. I have a great wake behind my Tige 24Ve, and I have a 22 ft pontoon and 2 wave runners, for about the price of 1 X80.

I have both the X45 & X80, and theres only one reason... because we bought the 45 to surf on and then after seeing the 80's wake it was double so we had to get the 80... it wont let you down at all.

Well if the hull is designed right that boat could throw an amazing wave. But I doubt it. Most mastercrafts are just too flat and square in the back. Amazing wakeboard wakes! Just ok to good wakesurf waves. There is a guy in my area running like 3k in ballast and his wave still isn't great. I think the hull design is to blame, but I have never seen an x-80 transom.

got a x-45 on our lake. They surf but I dont believe they have a nice of wake as the Centurions. Avy, Escalade, typhoon,Enzo. Pocket looks to be real short. Maybe its just the way they are weighing it down. Doesn't look like they have much of a lean.

The babes are on the wrong side of the Mastercraft, but they look pretty hot so I'd let them sit just about anywhere.

Thanks guys, I am currently tied up in Iraq and am planning on selling the xstar while i am here. I will not buy an x80 new, but rather one that is a couple years old. Considering that, I would love to have a 55, but am not willing to foot the bill for it. If anyone gets some x80 photos, please post.

The surfer is on the wrong side of the Mastercraft. Babes are good where they are.
