Our lake has just passed a 3,000lb 20ft boat limit. Anybody know of a new/used wakeboard boat that would meet these specifications?

Whoa, thats going to suck! You might want to get creative on your boats title!

Most boats in that category are going to be more of a ski boat like the X-7 or the Air Tique. Actually an older CC 2001 hull might be a good option.

Isn't the older VLX/Vride 2900 lbs?

Sanger V210: 2,850 (w/o equipment, ballast & fuel of course)

Carry a copy of this in your glove box.

I didn't know weight was on the title...

I dont think the VLX or V210 will come in at the 20' mark.

Length is on the title, weight capacity is on the trailer title, between the two it might be enough. Depends on how strict your associationg is going to be, given that they've passed this ruling it might be tough.

How do they weight the boat...or do they just look at a spec sheet you/dealer give.... it would be very easy to change the specs and print out a new document...

X-2 then would be a great choice, really short but heavy.... just fill it with helium ballons and hope that does enough

It is going to be real tough if they are really strict. I couldn't find anything newer that fits in a "wakeboard boat".

Calabria ProV2 20'6"-3200lbs
Maliby VTX 20'-3300lbs
Mastercraft X-1 20'7"-3200lbs
Mastercraft X-2 20'-3500lbs
Sanger V210 20'8"-2850lbs
Supra 20ssv 20'8"-3200lbs
Tige 20V 20'-3478lbs
Moomba Outback V(2009) 20'-3200lbs

If you can fudge a little all of these would be good options although I would favor the X2 or VTX myself.

If you are looking for something that really fits the bill and is legal get an 82-89 Nautique 2001 and throw a tower and a ton of ballast in it.

If they will not worry about length as much as weight the Epic 23v is like 3k or less in weight, then 4k in ballast, you're good to go

A friend has similar restrictions on his lake, and he went with the X-9

Exactly, I'm just saying that X-2 kinda looks like X-7 esspecially if you have poor handwriting.

The X9 is 20'9" I believe and there are a lot better options if wakeboarding is your main focus.

2009 Moomba Outback V.

Specifically redesigned to meet these new lake restrictions. Wake is just amazing with the New Gravity 3 ballast system. (fills/empties in 4.5 minutes)

It is now 19'11", but weighs in at 3200 lbs.

MC Tristar 190...for the money I think its the best boat you can buy. Not to many options under 20 feet.

I think I read somewhere that some old guys in someones neighborhood was out with a tape measure and checking the lengths of the boats. I think you have a better shot of getting a wake boat that is 20ft long and fudging on the weight. I have not been in a VTX yet but the new Tige 20V is sweet definitely worth demoing I was really suprised how nice it was and the ride was better than anything I have been in. Good luck

Does it have to measure 20' or less, or does it have to have specs that say it's 20' or less? If it's the first you could do an Epic nose on a V210 to take 8" off and have a great boat.

I can't imagine how they check weight besides weighing your so setup at like a truck stop... so if thats the case just weight it boat + trailer = lets say 5000lbs.

then when you come dump the boat off, come back and to weight the trailer just try and load it up with lead or something anywhere you can, so when you come back the tailer is weighing at least like 2000+ lbs... so the boat only seems to weight 3,000

that + changing stat sheets from a dealer or something seem to be the only way to get around weight issues

I remember a while back someone chopped the nose off of a MB boat...to get it to fit the requirements. It looked just like the epic nose and got them under the limit. The title may say something but I am sure you could work something out with a company...especially a smaller one like sanger. Then fill that biatch with lead!

I got a picture of that MB at home. It was Eddie & Jacob Valdez's boat before they got hooked up with Supra. I'll post it up tonight.

Seems like they just barely under cut all of the lengths and weights of wakeboarding boats. I wonder why they would do that?

Interesting that moomba designed a boat with this in mind.

The Outback looks nice. I think I would have to go with that over any boat that I had modded at a chop shop.

There are a few old school inboards that will also work, ala SN2001 vintage, but other brands had sub 20 footers like MC, Bu, Brendala, among others.

I rode a 89 CC 2001 for years and it has a great wake weighted of course. It is a direct drive, it's 20 ft 1 in with the platform and weights less then 3k so just take the platform off when you have it measured. In your case I would use lead weight so you can hide it. If you look around you can find a nice one for under 8k...

Malibu VTX! Just "make a mistake" on the weight part.

couldnt they just look at the coast guard plaque in your boat to see the length and weight?
