Is there a tank made for the ski locker on a 2001 SAN, or do you just have to put a bag in it?

no tank until 02. you may be able to get a tank from an 02 in there but it would be a MAJOR project, including removing the fuel tank. Not even close to worth it. A bag is better anyway as you can get one made that holds more than a tank

I don't think you can get a tank in there, The best bet is to just add a tube sack and fill it up. It will take up the whole ski locker. should add about 400lbs.

this will fit perfectly, I swear:

Fly High Pro-X Series Fat Seat Bottom.

its a 100% perfect fit.

Ditto on Nick. I had that sack in my '01 SAN and it fits like a glove. I think it is 600 lbs.

I had one made that is 12"Hx27"Wx78"L. From my rough calculations it should hold somewhere around 800lbs.

^^^I did the same. I don't thinkg the tube sac is nearly as long as the ski locker. Either way, a 600 # sac is much better than a 400ish # tank

Sick! Thanks guys. I'm buying a 210 soon. Just doing my research.

Is it better to put the weight in the ski locker or get an integrated bow sack? How does the weight in the bow effect the lack of rampyness of the old SAN wake. I am looking at one right now thats why I am curious.

^^^use a locker sac and an integrated bow sac. I prefer to have a good amount of weight in the front of the 210. It is still super poppy, but not over-vert and soft. I've ridden behind a few 210s that weren't heavy enough up front and the wake was noticably softer and too vert. Even with bow weight it is still going to be very steep in comparison to most other boats.

^^^what scott said. Im running two 600's in my vdrive compartments, a 600 in the ski locker and the integrated bow sac on top of my seats completely full right now, and the wake is money. Im in the process of putting a fully automatic fly hi system in with the 750's in the back, a custom ~800 in the ski locker, and integrated bow sac under the bow seats, and am still thinking I may have to throw some lead in the front.

Here is our setup and honestly is AWESOME.

600lbs front = bow sac
900lbs rear = v-drive sacs
*dont usually fill but we have in case a lack of people*
fat seat bottom in the center = 700 lbs

Acme 856 prop gets it out of the whole very fast.

This is with Bow sac/V-drive sacs - 2 people in boat --- 1500lbs give or take

Seth are you putting 600lb on top of the tanks in the V-drive compartments?

Dang that looks rampy. Last time I rode a 210 it seemed to have a huge lip. That could just be the way we weighted it who knows

No, those tanks are long gone.

Kyle,
Are you aware you will have to replace the valves and pumps on the 01 stock ballast system? The whole setup is laughable!
Old     (kylenautique)      Join Date: May 2008       10-23-2008, 8:43 AM Reply
No I was not aware of this. What's the reason?
Old    K.B.C.            10-23-2008, 11:24 AM Reply
You don't HAVE to. My buddy has an 02, he swapped out the rear tanks for bags and has an integrated bow sac that he incorporated into the stock system. The valve system can be somewhat of a pain and is not ideal, but it does not HAVE to be replaced.

Hey Scott, why are you changing the pumps, valves and tanks? What the problem with them?
Old     (tampawake)      Join Date: Mar 2008       10-23-2008, 11:36 AM Reply
Most the people riding will be beginers I was thinking of just using the integrated bow sack and not fill the rear tanks. How will that effect the wake. If you were towing someone learning 180's wake to wake type stuff how would you set it up.

In the 02, the pumps draw through seacocks that need to be accessed through the engine hatch and the ski locker which also requires flipping up the clamshell and moving the jump seat if it's in there. The 02 uses aerator style pumps, one to fill and one to empty and they were on one single switch and that makes balancing the wake difficult, we are able to drain on the fly and balance out. Just not fill on the fly.

I rewired all of mine and manually fill a bow sac. Still have the intake valve problem but there are solenoid valves you can buy to fix that one too, I think just using the ski locker solenoid would be great so you don't have to move everyone around to fill up.

You could rewire and use reversible pumps, but I opted to keep the aerators as they draw less amps and don't burn up if run dry.

If most are beginners, dont run any weight at all. The wake is still very good with no weight in it.

The valves on the 01s can have problems filling/emptying without you actually turning on the pumps. The 210s I ride behind have had the tanks pulled because the bags hold more weight. Nothing necessarily wrong with them other than they are too small for our taste.

Kyle,
When I first purchased my 01 SAN, I thought there was something wrong with the valves for port/starboard tanks. After messing with it and reading all of the complaints from WW and Planet Nautique posters, I realized it was just a poorly designed system. Weight distribution in the 210's is super sensitive and the stock system made it impossible to fill/empty on the fly. Do a search and you will get a better understanding as too how the system is flawed. I installed solenoid valves and will replace the pumps next.

Hey Rod, do you remember the make and model number possibly on those solenoids?? I'd like to put one in my belly tank at least so I don't have to mess with the valve all the time.

When I rewired my 02, I ran a new power line from the engine up under the dash and put a power bus in there, then put a set of switches on the dash where the CO sticker was on the bottom right. I added a button breaker for each switch just in case, then ran lines back to the pumps.

It was not a small project, but the result is 1200 lbs in the rear, 300 in the stock belly, and 4-500 in the bow in a manual bag. We can adjust by emptying on the fly, which is priceless and very necessary on these hulls.

I found them to be very good quality.
