Kind of cool to see people look at wakeboards for inspiration. The trend in surfing lately has been to go shorter and wider, and a few shapers are looking at borrowing some concepts from wakeboard tails and bottom contours to achieve this.

Kind of cool. Here's a young innovative shaper from Australia with a recent blog post:

I think wakeboarding also had a huge influence on big wave surfing when surfers started towing into big waves that they couldn't paddle into. This opened a whole new realm within big wave surfing and allowed surfers to ride waves that where once thought to be unrideable.
