pro 80's?

I finally had time to hook up my pro 80's I am running them on a 5 channel amp bridged on channels 1,2 and 3,4 220x2 at 4ohms the speakers are really loud the only issue I have is I am getting a constant noise from them. when the stereo is paused. I think it is from my amp because I had to use y adapters so my gains are set at 1v almost all the way up on the amp. (the head unit is a clarion with 2v output. I have read on other post about getting a ws 420 to up the volts out so I can turn my gains down is this more than likely my problem? any info would be great thanks

sounds like some gain hiss. From the gains up too high. Happens a lot. So the only thing you can do it re tune the system with the amp and back the gains down a bit. Once you get them set, this will be the max volume you can get with the power you have. 220 should be good power. If you add in the 420, you will up the voltage going into the amps. So the amp gains will not need to be up as high, thus lowering the noise floor. This results in a cleaner signal all the way around. Just remember that it doesn't matter where the gain is at as once the gain is set at unity, that is the max power the amp can produce. So higher gain does not make the amp put out more power. Only opens up the noise floor like you are hearing now

yeah thats what I kind of figured, I will have to add the ws 420 soon so I can up the voltage and turn the gains down! thanks for the help I can't believe how loud these speakers are! in the garage they drown out the rest of my system!
