Not her most glorious moment, but at least they show her hit a couple of sick wake tricks before they highlighted her K.O. fall on the transfer box.

Anyone else see it? That's one tough girl.

No, but I saw Parks on that show or one similar not too long ago where he got jacked up on a pool-to-lake setup where he bends his knee or something the completely wrong way

^^^ "she is tough for sure" Word! I've seen her take hits that would put most guys back in the boat and she just shakes it off and goes again.

Yikes. That was scary. That should show you how fast you'll sink to the bottom of a lake without a vest...assuming you come out of your boots.

I can't believe how casually those life guards were swimming towards her. Seeing people unconscious totally freaks me out.

fyi, they're not lifeguards. they're wakeboarders/winch operators.

Wow. Tough lady. She seems to be having a great time representing the USA at worlds in Korea. Check out facebook photos. Waterfall climbing and moped rentals thru the countryside.

I was thinking while I was watching....any second now, someone is going to help her......still waiting.....still waiting.

Thought the same thing J-Rod. Lifeguards or not...they should have been busting A$$ to get her.
Old     (all_board_rider)      Join Date: May 2009       08-28-2009, 10:52 AM Reply
oh so they were riders? So they know the difference between someone knocked out, and someone just laying there trying to count the birdies above their head...while they try and figure out how to flip the hinge up on their boots. ha good to see she's still rippin in korea.

Wow. Good job on the life guards part.

"wsan't she on friends?" Charles -- bahahahaha...thats such a funny comment because when I saw that video I thought to myself "Gee, she really looks like Pheobe on that "Friends" sitcom."

Just a striking resemblance :P

The lifeguards took less than 15 seconds to get to her. I'd say that a quick-enough response. They had to
1-Realize she's not getting up.
2- React.
3- Swim to her.
Old     (littlelady)      Join Date: Jun 2009       08-28-2009, 12:32 PM Reply
or erm...riders that got her out.. whomever had a quick response, I thought.
Old     (behindtheboat)      Join Date: Aug 2006       08-28-2009, 12:34 PM Reply
Wouldn't running around the pool be a quicker response?
Old     (eubanks01)      Join Date: Jun 2001       08-28-2009, 12:40 PM Reply
A-dub - Thought that too. I was just surprised because it was obvious she has unconscious under water but yet those dudes were casually swimming towards her. 15 seconds is a long time to be breathing in water...and it seemed longer than that.
Old     (duffmangt)      Join Date: Jan 2008       08-28-2009, 1:00 PM Reply
yeah, imo they took to long but they did save her so props.

shes tough as hell, i saw her over rotate a whirly straight to her back and thought she for sure would be out. shook it off but made the smart choice of getting back in the boat for a bit haha.

She's still alive, she still rips better than you, i would say they did their job fine.

I got to the clip on the internet last night. I was terrified!!!! --never heard that part of the story.... I don't think Raequel realized how long she was out, and under the water. All I can say is THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart to the winch drivers/riders for getting to her. --And I'll be reminding her about the life jacket issue. I know it was a pool jam, the girls are always really safety conscious on the lake and while hitting sliders, but a jacket would also have cushioned the slam to her back.

Thanks J-rod, I'd like to see the section from the show, or is it just the same length as the clip?

Hey David, it does look like the girls, Austin, Adam, Holland, and Corrie are really having an awesome experience in Korea!!!Beautiful place!! (what about those marinated beetles?)

Riley, when are those "Girls Ride the Wake" pictures going to surface?

I don't know if any one noticed but the clip was played in slow motion. It took the winch driver and te other guys less than 10 seconds to get to her. They were already sliding down the 20 foot wall before she hit the water. I also don't think she was knocked out, just dazed. She got up and walked out just fine. Then hung out on the riders deck the rest of the rail jam.

I still don't understand the "no life vest" attitude when riding anywhere- whether it is behind a boat/jetski, cable park or winch- there are too many things that can go wrong- even for the pros. (but that is for the aaron rathy thread .) Luckily whether it was slo-mo clip or real time, she was rescued in time.

just wanted to say that I was there when she crashed like that.. and seriously... everyone reacted well. it was a really scary thing to watch happen, but thats why we wear helmets!! And I doubt it would have been faster for anyone operating the winch, or standing on the riders platform to go down to the ground from where they were, run over to where she was, and then jump back in.

We were just at a rail jam on the weekend. The pools were way too small, rail was VERY scary, the kicker to close to the rail, the winch was pulling us off the kicker into the rail on the landing etc etc.

It was basically must stick course. A fall off the rail left meant hitting a pole, then falling down a 20m river bank. A fall off the right meant slamming straight into the backside of the kicker. We rode it (carefully) and put on an ok show, there were some really close calls though.

None of the people watching had any clue about how tough it was. I showed Raequel’s crash vid to a few mates who were there watching - told them this is what it means when you say "must stick".

She is a machine...
