I need Your Advice on weighting a Mastercraft.

I just bought an 89' Tri-Star 19'. Does anyone have ballast experience with this boat or similar model and year? I imagine with the right weighting, this boat will be awesome for kicking a good rideable wave.

We're all regular footers so will want to weight the left side, but I have no idea which side this boat favors. We're looking for a solid wave with good length and volume. I have a single ballast right now at 550#, and two tuff 30 gal trashcans that I can move about for testing, but have yet to run a water test with the boat. I'd like to get as close to a perfect wave as possible before hitting the water so I waste as little time as possible while on the lake. Does anyone have any suggestions for position & poundage specifics. Thank you all in advance!!

put two 400lb sacks (neither completely full) overlapping on the port side rear with one guy sitting on that corner and one guy on the gunwale at the engine and one of their wives in the bow same side. 11mph in my 95 prostar 205 and it was rideable for my 205lbs on a 5'6" broadcast (thanks Matt!). better when slightly turning left - i was amazed at how little other rollers affected the wake - seems like i've seen so much more impact during wakeboarding.

I just read the "what to do when taking on water post" and would recommend having a game plan in place - its different driving your boat with that much wieght in one place, wouldn't be hard to accidently swamp it. With a game plan, that situation could be a lot better than without.

Good luck - post pics !!

I was just out last night in mine. What can I say, weight and lots of it. I run about 2500lbs in mine, though I agree with Chris, have a plan cause sometimes the back deck is 8 inches below. The boat favors goofy for wakeboarding because of prop rotation you need to put more weight on the passenger side. I must say that with all that weight and my new Acme prop the wake is amazing both for boarding and surfing. The only difference is I put about 150lbs of sandbags out of the bow + people on the back rear corner for surfing. Wake was waist high and clean. Lots of fun.
