hey san diego riders,

i had an idea for this year's opening day at san vicente: since we got hassled by the man a couple of years ago and last year pretty much died because of that, we should move the pre-party on friday night to a local lakeside bar. that way we can be loud (have a band), have all the prize giveaways, etc and not worry about the lake staff. the idea would be to go put your boat in line early, then head over to the bar for a while before heading back to camp out before opening day.

anyone know of a good venue to do this? ideas, suggestions, naysayers?

For size, I would suggest Boll Weavil in Lakeside. It is pretty big inside. Most other places here are small. In Santee, Oggi's gets my vote.

Two years ago was a blast, but last year was a dud! I will be there either way. I know we had quite a party just sitting on my boat. The year before was fun with the raffle, etc.

Maybe if we get a collection together and send the resident of the nearby home on a little trip. Or maybe I can arrange for "Vito" to help us out and take him on a trip!

Oh yea, plenty big. No beer there unless you bring your own. Not many babes either (at least not the 2-legged type). Guess we have to bring our own again!!

i went to scout some bars tonight - awesome time in east county! i heard, "this is a fightin' bar" from one bartender. reminds me of home...

so, we may be working the angle at mulvaney's, which is actually a country bar. we talked to a cocktail waitress who says that friday nights need some help sometimes. they seemed pretty receptive to our idea.

there are also other places in santee, but we'd like to stay relatively close to the lake.

any thoughts?

Mulvaney's would be killer!! I went a couple weeks ago on a Saturday and they broke out the jello pool and had wrestling right in the middle of a country bar!! My wife won it all of course! :-)

Sweet. Mulvaney's would be awesome. Think we can special request the jello pool?

Yea, Mulvaneys would be good. There is plenty of room, and they need the business.

Just wondering, with a party away from the boats, how is that going to work out. I have reservations about parking my boat in line, and leaving for a party. The last couple years it was no problem since we were there to keep an eye on things.

Anoyle else worried about this, or is it just because I am a new dad with quite an investment?

Also, caught quite a buzz. It would be nice to be able to party at the boats, and not have to drive afterwards. I am sure that will happen whenever we get back to the boats.

Man, 2 years ago was fun with the raffle and music. Too bad we can't do the same. I guess we either pissed off the neighbor, or the rangers.
