What do you think about progressive rockers vs. continuous or 3 stage. Do you really get the best of both worlds? I currently ride and Belmont with continuous, and I would like more pop cuz my boat has more of a rampy wake. I haven't liked any 3 stage boards that I've ridden. I'm liking what I hear about the Valhalla and plan to demo. Should I just get a 3 stage and learn to how to ride it?

I have a 2000 Belmont 140 that I've had forever. I just bought an Era 137, mild 3 stage, and it's wierd. I can't get the pop, I thought I'd get a lot more. I also have a rampy wake and was hoping for the same thing. I think I just need to ride it some more, but I shoulda demo'd a couple of different ones first. Impulse buy! Not saying I don't like it, but it definitely is a lot different from a continuous rocker board. It's also early in the season and I'm rusty. I'm gonna try my pals new (continuous) Trip 138 for comparison this weekend.

I'd try as many boards as you can before you drop 400$ on a board, hindsight = 20/20;)

80% of pop comes from the rider.

I just finished reading for hours. I found alot on continuous and 3 stage, but my question is more about the hybrid of the 2. Now that they've been around for awhile, I want to know if people like them.

Anyone who has seen me ride knows I am no riding wizard, but:

I have a 2002 Belmont, a 2004 Parks, and a 2004 Absolute (well, I also have a couple others, but they don't count).

They all ride very differently, and in my opinion, really depends on what you want, and also, what you are riding behind (boat/wake-type). Each has it's own style (which I seriously lack!). You really need to try different boards, and see what feels best for you. Depending on my mood, somedays I really feel like one over the other. More pop, more speed, etc.

I am always game to let others try any boards I have just so they can get a taste of different rides.

Good luck. I am going back to sleep now! Sorry for the rant! Hope it makes some sense!

I'm a fan of the 3 stage, because it has really good pop, and also gives me that really loose feel on the water that I don't really get with other boards. I do like how companies are now blending the models together like the Premier's subtle 3 stage, or the Lyman's aggressive continuous. If I had to pick a board that wasn't an aggressive 3 stage like mine, I'd pick a progressive rocker, because I also like the feel of those boards.
