Does anyone know the dates for the WWA Nationals & Worlds in 2005?

Vans is not longer doing Triple Crown events in any sports as far as I've heard. However, Nationals and Worlds will obviously still take place. Worlds is in Australia for 2005 and I think that the venue for Nationals is still up in the air.

They still do the tour but it is called the "Dew Action Sports tour", or something very close to that and all the stops have changed. However I do not know if they are going to continue the wake portion of it.

Dew Action Sports Tour Selects Portland as a Host Site For Inaugral 2005 Season

DEW ACTION SPORTS TOUR SELECTS
FIVE HOST SITES FOR INAUGURAL 2005 SEASON

PORTLAND SELECTED TO HOST THIRD TOUR STOP
NEW YORK- October 27, 2004 - The Dew Action Sports Tour, the first-ever season-long professional multi-sport tour in action sports, announced today that it has selected Louisville, Kentucky; Denver, Colorado; Portland, Oregon; San Jose, California; and Orlando, Florida as the five host sites for its inaugural season, beginning in June 2005.

The Dew Action Sports Tour schedule and title sponsors of each event are as follows. Official names of each event will be announced at a later date:

June 8-12, 2005 at Louisville - Kentucky Expo Center, sponsored by Panasonic.

July 6-10, 2005 at Denver - Pepsi Center, sponsored by Right Guard Xtreme.

August 17-21, 2005 at Portland - Rose Quarter, sponsored by Vans.

Sept. 7-11, 2005 at San Jose - HP Pavilion, sponsored by Toyota.

Oct. 12-16, 2005 at Orlando - TD Waterhouse Arena, sponsored by PlayStation.

The five host sites were selected from more than 20 prospective sites throughout the U.S. through a competitive bidding process. All five sites share a commitment with the Dew Action Sports Tour to develop and offer fans a first-class, community-based event.

"We are thrilled to have selected sites that distinguished themselves from other bids by offering strong cooperation among community and government organizations, commitments of significant marketing support for the Tour, favorable geographic fit, and superior venues," said Wade Martin, General Manager of the Dew Action Sports Tour. "We are proud to have the Dew Action Sports Tour associated with such prominent markets and look forward to building long-term relationships with fans, grassroots participants and organizations in each community."

The Dew Action Sports Tour has entered into multi-year agreements with representatives of all five sites. Each event will be the focus of the Tour's ongoing, fully-integrated, multi-million dollar marketing campaign. Each event and host site will receive significant international exposure through dedicated event broadcasts on NBC and a cable partner, and through the Tour's various marketing platforms. The Tour estimates annual economic impact of $20-30 million and projects attendance of 100,000 in each city.

"Action sports are a flourishing part of our nation's sports landscape and the Dew Action Sports Tour represents the future of the action sports phenomenon," claims Drew Mahalic, CEO of Oregon Sports Authority. "In addition to the substantial direct economic impact that will accrue from the thousands of participants, event officials and spectators on an annual basis, Oregon will gain priceless national television exposure on NBC and cable television."

The winning bid was assembled by a formidable partnership composed of the Oregon Sports Authority, Rose Quarter, Portland Oregon Visitors Association, Oregon Tourism Commission, City of Portland, Mexicana Airlines, KGW Northwest NewsChannel 8 and local Clear Channel representatives.

Owned by NBC Sports and Clear Channel Entertainment - Motor Sports, the Dew Action Sports Tour boasts the biggest competitive purse in action sports, a $1 Million Bonus Pool based upon year-end standings, and the largest network television and cable broadcasting commitment ever. The Dew Action Sports Tour will consist of multi-sport and entertainment festivals covering over one million square feet in both indoor and outdoor venues. In addition to the primary sports of skateboarding, BMX, and freestyle motocross, each tour stop will feature a unique "specialty comp", such as snowboarding or wakeboarding. At season's end, based on a cumulative points system, the Tour will award champions in skateboarding (street and vert), BMX (street, dirt & vert) and freestyle motocross with the Dew Cup. Key lifestyle elements at each Tour event will include live cutting-edge music, video gaming, and interactive events.

NBC plans 19 hours of primarily live coverage for the 2005 Dew Action Sports Tour. A cable broadcast partner and programming plans will be announced at a later date.

Clear Channel Entertainment - Motor Sports will be an integral partner on the Dew Action Sports Tour, lending its considerable expertise in live event touring and promotion, including a wide range of off-channel assets including Clear Channel's Radio, Outdoor and Music divisions.

The Dew Action Sports Tour's founding partners include Mountain Dew (tour title sponsor); and Panasonic, Right Guard Xtreme, Vansr, Toyota, PlayStationr (event title sponsors). Also joining the Tour as associate sponsors are Peanut Chewsr and Pacific Cycler - the owner and supplier of Mongooser, Schwinnr, and GTr bicycle brands.

NBC Sports Ventures

NBC Sports Ventures, the business development arm of NBC Sports, produces 80 hours of programming annually for the NBC Television Network including the ADT Golf Skills Challenge, American Century Celebrity Golf Championship, AVP Pro Beach Volleyball Tour, The National Dog Show Presented by Purina, Jeep World of Adventure Sports, Office Depot Father/Son Challenge and the International Auto Show.

Clear Channel Entertainment - Motor Sports

Clear Channel Entertainment - Motor Sports owns, produces and promotes specialized motor sports events primarily staged in stadiums and arenas. The company stages over 600 events per year and produces over 250 hours of television programming, featuring such premier properties such as THQ World Supercross GP/THQ AMA Supercross Series; USHRA Monster Jam Presented by Ford Trucks & Advance Auto Parts; Hooter's IHRA Drag Racing Series & IFMA Freestyle Motocross. Clear Channel Entertainment-Motor Sports, a division of Clear Channel Entertainment, is a subsidiary of Clear Channel Worldwide (NYSE: CCU), a global leader in the out-of-home, advertising industry.

Additional Information and Quotes

Courtesy of Oregon Sports Authority
Portland has been one of the most successful hosts for Tony Hawk's Boom Boom Huckjam and the Vans Triple Crown of Wakeboarding, formerly known as the Pro Wakeboard Tour. The city of Portland has a well-earned reputation as one of the most skateboarding-friendly cities in the nation, even passing an ordinance that embraces skateboarding on city streets as an approved means of transportation. Portland is home to the world-famous Burnside Skatepark and one of the world's oldest skate shops, Cal Skate Skateboards. Nearly 100 skateparks have been built throughout the state over the last decade.

The Oregon Sports Authority projects that the Dew Action Sports Tour will infuse an estimated $25 million annual economic impact to our region. The additional value of the tremendous national and international television exposure, while difficult to quantify, is unquestionably worth millions more to Oregon.

The Dew Action Sports Tour will provide thousands of action sports enthusiasts from throughout the Northwest with the opportunity to witness the stars of action sports competing at the highest level.

Forrest, a few hours south of Indy, straight down 65. It's a pretty fun town too, I'd be up for hitting the Dew thing down there if there was wakeboarding.
