Hello,

This is a general survey I made in hopes of possibly observing some trends and correlations inside the wakeboarding community.
Things like; “are people more likely to purchase a boat if their season is longer than X months?”
“do people progress faster when they ride both behind the boat and under the cable?”
“are people more likely to purchase a boat if they live more than 2.5hrs from a cable?”
These are just a few ideas of causation I would like to explore and I hope to have enough raw data to really see some deeper connections and correlations within our sport and community.

There are 95 questions in total and it took me about 6 minutes to complete. Please take a second to fill it out and I promise I’ll post back with any interesting findings and share the data obtained if anyone else would like to check it out for themselves.
This is my first time administering a survey, so please post responses with comments and suggestions about how to improve and perhaps this could become an annual thing.

Thanks,
-Vinny Armentano

Please enjoy a crash montage as a token of my appreciation for your responses and time!

Wakeboard Sociology!
I couldnt fill it out since I wakeskate, but I think your idea is pretty cool.

I do think you have too many questions though, which will make less people fill it out and in turn give you a smaller sample size. Also, you have a few questions that will give you junk data. The questions asking about how long your last purchases were do not take into account people who buy product more frequent than a year.

Also, how are you going to analysis your data? SPSS or Excel? Unless you are using SPSS, you will have a really hard time going though it all.

I love sociology and stats haha

I rocked your survey for you man. The only thing I think I would ad is how you get you new gear beyond purchasing, i.e. sponsors, parents, gifts.

Also with clinics and Contest adding if you have ever hosted or coach at a clinic or contest might be good.

Props on the Double "O" Nine Question!

is there a question about rocking shorts over your full suit?

Thanks guys!
I know it has a lot of questions :/ maybe I had too high of hopes on whether or not people would care about the results lol The answers get automatically sent to a google doc spreadsheet and I was planning on just exporting them to excel.
The how people purchase questions could be great! it'd be cool to see data on whether people outside of orlando still buy their gear from local shops or not, or even if people inside areas with a lot of wake shops (orlando) still use the internet to get their gear lol

simplej -> I should've thrown in a few questions about aesthetics, stickers and such. Even though I think it looks atrocious when people rock shorts over a full suit, I'm a staunch supporter of wearing shorts over a spring suit lol Wonder how many people there are out there like me?

SHARE THIS WITH YOUR FRIENDS THANKS

Filled out for you, too long. Maybe a set of smaller surveys would be better. How was Brownstone this year? Any new features?

I thought the length wasn't bad. I've had surveys take hours before though, so the 10 mins this took was fine. Plus I liked how comprehensive it was. Not just your average wake survey.

Vinny:

Why? I am interested to see all the results because I am an economist data nerd who loves wakeboarding, but is there a specific reason for your research?

Thanks, I am sharing the link. Do you have a time frame for your findings?

Hey Paul! The end of this season they floated about a 30ft corrugated pipe as an ollie on rail and it was wicked fun. It would sometimes float at an angle so hitting the whole thing was hard but I was able to pull off a backside 180 over it once and that was sick lol

Rob like I said I was just in a statistics class and have always wondered if there were data relationships for things like knee injuries vs boat/cable riders and other things. this is just my idea of fun hahaha or maybe I was just looking to do something wake related during these winter months. I don't really have a time frame, just waiting for enough data to really claim I have a representative sample. Only rocking about 80 responses right now. I was really hoping for 350...maybe now I'll start analyzing it when I break 100? lol
Either way i'm in finals till the 13th and won't be able to get to it till after that.

Email me and I'll share access to the googledoc

Hello/Happy Holidays to all!
Just thought I'd post back with the raw data, and while I can't make any general statements due to the sample being unrepresentative, I really enjoyed this.
Especially the suggestions section lol
WW doesn't allow excel attachments so here's the link to a public google doc.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_p...it?usp=sharing

I sorted into separate sheets based on my topics of interest. There's some stuff I didn't explore and if anyone wants to post back I think that'd be cool to see.
