Does a newbie goofy rider needs to ride on the right side, or the left side of the boat? What is easier?

James.

I am the same way you are. I would start Goofy but learn to ride switch. I have been riding for 2 months now and now have been able to ride switch a little. i still need some practice but i can ride without the rope. The wake is so much better on that side it is worth it.

usually goofy riders are more comfortable with their right foot toeside (frontside) -- meaning the toes are facing the wake, but as micheal said, it is great to learn how to ride switch (with your left foot toeside (on the other side of the wake). you can also learn to ride backside (heelside) on the port side. check out the inland surfer website for some videos of various tricks going frontside and backside.
