I don't really understand how to do the impeller install, nor do i know where it is located. Can you guys help me? I jsut need to know the location, how hard it is to do and how long it takes. I understand cars, but cars don't have impellers.

For a v-drive boat it will be in the rear next to the transom wall. It will have several hoses connected to it so you can't miss it. On my 97 there are 4 bolts holding the cover on. There are a lot of opinions about the best way to do this but my first attempt worked out just using a screwdriver to pry it out. Here are some pics that I took of the job. It took me about an hour. I'm not much of a mechanic either and it was tough to get out but overall the process was not hard. If you have any more specific questions, feel free to ask.

I did my 04 VLX a while back and it was a PITA. I was recently told that it is easier to remove the entire housing for the impeller (on the VLX) and change it on the bench...I'll let you know how that goes in another 35 hours. It can be done but the exhaust system is the biggest obstacle.
