Just wondering what guys do when putting in a ballast system in an older boat. Do you guys drill a hole in the bottom of the boat or do you go through the drain plug in the back or what. I am looking at putting in a system and really do not want to drill through the bottom of my boat. Any help would be great

I think what people have been doing is tapping into the engine's fresh water intake.

Depends on what type of system you're going with. If you're going with aerator pumps I would drill a hole and use a scupper. I finished mine last week and drilling the hole was no big deal. Although it was a little intimidating to put a 1 3/4" hole in the bottom of my boat.
