I have a friend who is buying a new boat and wants to move to Canyon. The dealer is telling him he thinks Canyon is allowing 23' boats now...any truth to this? My experience there was a few years ago and they were strict on length..it was around 21 ft only.

Don't forget to ask about ballast limitations, too.

as far as i know, ballast is only banned in the main lake. the backwater's fair game...load your boat down to your content!

There was a push to allow larger boats last year- not sure of the outcome but I think they shot it down. Limits are 21'- no ballast on main lake only. Load as much as you want in the backwater.

I seem to remember seeing a thread a few months ago regarding the length of the new VLX (21.5')and Jeff (Fruitcake) said it couldn't go in Canyon Lake because of the 21' length limitation. That was just a few months ago.

I haven't heard of any changes to the rule. When the marine patrol does your boat inspection for your sticker, they take a tape measure down the center of your boat, fiberglass to fiberglass (rubrail, swim step, eyes, speedo pickups not counted in the measurement). 21' or under =

21'1" or over =
