NVS Addiction speakers are coaxial. Is that the same as Dual Voice Coil?

How many speaker wire connections are there on these speakers?

If I wanted to run a pair of these speakers at 2ohms I would use a 1 channel or bridged 2 channel 4ohm amp and wire the speakers in parallel like in the following illustration?

Upload

Thanks for the help

If I used a zapco 500.1 amp for the above example and ran it at 2 ohms will the 500W be split into 250W per speaker or will it be 500W at each speaker?

Depoint,

Impedance is calculated like resistance. For instance two loads in parallel would be, 1/R1 + 1/R2 = 1/Rt. In series it would be R1 + R2 = Rt.

That means the total impedance of your diagram is 1 ohm. To match a 4 ohm amp with two speakers in parallel the impedance of the speakers would have to be 8 ohms each.

To really answer you question try the search feature. I foulnd this that has info from the man himself.

Derby I have read and had a few posts on that one but thanks.

The NVS addiction speakers are 4 ohm speakers so the diagram is off. With two 4 ohm speakers the total impedance would be 2 ohms right?

correct

Correct, each speaker is 4 ohms, so if you wire it in parallel your amp will see a 2 ohm load. If you use the Zapco 500.1 each speaker will see 250 watts RMS.

Hey not to get off the question topic.
Quick question. Every time you wire up in parallel 4+4=2+4=1 does your distortion level double or not every time you lower resistance whether you pump up total wattage or not.

I am assuming that these speakers will have separate connections for the 10" woofer and the 1" tweeters. Should I hook the coaxial speakers in each can in series and the separate cans in parallel or is there a built in crossover?

This stuff is finally starting to make sense.

There is only one connection - built in crossover
