Good or Bad Idea??

My brother bought a three port heater and couldn't find a spot in the boat that he liked to mount it, so the heater has been sitting for the last two years in the garage.

I put everything in a box that he can install when it gets cold and take out when it gets hot, he lives in Arizona. He usually only has a total of three riders in the winter.

What do you all think, is this a good idea or a bad idea? What are the negatives? It works great.

Throw some sort of cushion on it and get full wrap seating

I think its better than having stadium seating

I think it kind a cool idea as long as you can hide the hoses when you take it out and didn't have to cut any holes in the seat bases.

No holes were drilled anywhere in the boat. The hoses pass through the area between the seat and the hull and can easily be looped and tucked back out of the way when the heater is not in use.

Great idea. Just make the hoses easy to connect, or you'll never use it.

I used high pressure quick disconnect fittings so the hoses are very easy to connect, disconnect and loop back together.

The back is completely left open so that the motor can draw air in.

Somone from Planetnautique.com suggested putting a heated seat cushion on top, which I think is a pretty cool idea. I was thinking about heated cup holders myself, so we could have hot soup in between sets. I was just going to wrap tiny copper lines around a cup to form the holder and then plumb hot water through it from the heater core. When the water reaches the heater core it's about 168 degrees.

A heated seat, huh. So would you do that with hot water (like the old Hot Johnson seats)? Or with wires like in a car? The old Hot Johnsons were a PITA after a year or two & not worth the hassle. Not sure how Malibu is doing theirs. Seems like it would be risky to do them like a car.

Good idea, extends your boating season. Like that it is portable so it's out of the way in the summer!

the heated seats in my girls car blow heated air through perforated holes in the leather. Fwiw
