A Malibu at 60' and 22 MPH, or a Star at 85' and 26 MPH. Ha, ha, ha... Just Playin'

My first guess would have been Boston Whaler also, but likely not.... I'm thinking Cobalt 280 trimmed out.

Ok guys....... it's a Malibu VTX loaded with about 2600lbs, and 3 peeps in the boat. It does have a power wedge but it's not down in this pic. It is also only in about 10-12ft of water. I'll post a pic of the other side of the lake, which is 5-6ft, just to show that you CAN make a wake in shallow water. To those who say you can't have a big wake in shallow water, you'll have to take your foot out of your mouth before you talk again.
Old     (andy_nintzel)      Join Date: Sep 2004 Location: Minnesnowda       01-05-2010, 5:48 PM Reply
I would agree you can make a big wake is shallow water, but you can make a bigger wake in deep water! Brandon I fly into Socal Thursday, you still got the same phn#?

Very true, but you hear it all the time. Yeah man, send me an email and I'll get it to you, It's the same though. How long you here for?

I landed in So Cal today and hope everybody is riding. I came from frozen lakes and high's in the 20's. There is no winter here!
Old     (freerider22)      Join Date: Mar 2009       01-06-2010, 7:05 AM Reply
10-12 ft deep isnt very shallow! I Ride in an average of 8ft deep and my xstar throws a bigger wake than that. Shallow water is 5ft or less in my opinion
Old     (tampawake)      Join Date: Mar 2008       01-06-2010, 8:00 AM Reply
You guys are incredible!!! Not sure if its a good thing or bad thing being able to figure the wake out from a picture.
Old     (bbr)      Join Date: Apr 2002       01-06-2010, 8:41 AM Reply
I know what you mean Mikey. Riding with Travis and Shaun we know about shallow. Our normal lake is only 5ft deep and quite nice. I just love hearing people say that good wakes in shallow water isn't possible. Some even say that you need 20ft or more.
Old     (liquidmx)      Join Date: Jun 2005       01-06-2010, 9:19 AM Reply
Depending on rope length and speed...for 2600lbs thats an impressive wake!
Old     (cjh1669)      Join Date: Apr 2005       01-06-2010, 10:17 AM Reply
Speaking of that, what speed and length is that at, and how do you have the weight setup?

I've got an 07 VTX with stock ballast, and would love to know. Also why don't you use the wedge?
Old     (waterdork88)      Join Date: Aug 2005       01-06-2010, 10:35 AM Reply
I know the wake will be effected in very shallow water 4-5ft... 10-12ft I would think very little if any
Old     (bbr)      Join Date: Apr 2002       01-06-2010, 10:58 AM Reply
We normally use the wedge, but didn't for our buddy on that pull. His length is 70' and is at 24.2 mph (GPS'd).

For the weight we have the stock 1250 (with the bow tank), and we have about 1350-1400 in lead throughout the boat.

Let me find that other pic that I mentioned in 5-6 ft. Give me a minute.
Old     (cjh1669)      Join Date: Apr 2005       01-06-2010, 11:04 AM Reply
How much does the wedge change your wake?
Old     (stoked_32)      Join Date: Aug 2007       01-06-2010, 11:23 AM Reply
Whatever Brandon. Wakemikey's right. Asians aren't 6 ft tall, and that wake is actually against a rider that's only 5'2. You're getting better with photoshop though.

Hey trigo, maybe brandon can photoshop us pretending to be friends.

I can vouch for the 1400 pounds of lead, I helped unload it one day

Brandon if Nintzel makes it out to your place we want pic's.

Ok here is a pic of me in 5-6ft of water. I'm also 6' tall, at 24.4mph on a 75ft rope length.

Randy you know it man!

wake looks fun but why 75'? most wakes look big when ur riding a short rope it seems like
Old     (bbr)      Join Date: Apr 2002       01-06-2010, 1:45 PM Reply
I normally ride at 80-82.5 but for some reason, 75 is just right on this lake.

And don't forget though, if the length is short usually so is the speed, but we didn't slow at all.
Old     (lfadam)      Join Date: Nov 2008       01-06-2010, 1:51 PM Reply
75' is short now? News to me.

that hurts john, hurts to the core!

that wake is a beast in any depth. trust me.

6 feet of water is fine for a good wake as we can see from above. My lake runs 6-12 feet depending on where you are on the pass and i can assure you that my wake is everything but small.
