ive been wakeboarding for awhile and always have wanted to try wakeskating......only thing is that ive never skateboarded. does that make a difference? and how to you get up on a wakeskate? is it hard to learn?

the fact that you have wakeboarded will help you far more then if you would have skateboarded. sure skateboarding would help with tricks such as ollieing and shuvits -otherwise its not that important. getting up is usually famed to be a lot harder than it actually it is, especially if you wakeboard. one way to get up it to sit in the water the exact same way you do as for wakeboarding, but hold onto the board on the toeside edge inbetween your feet with one hand and hold onto the rope with your other hand. once the slack is taken out of the line there will b tension and you can let go of the board and grab onto the rope with both hands. the board will stay against your feet easier then most people would think. then from there its the exact same to get up as on a wakeboard. i've heard different suggestions as for where your feet should be positioned for getting up. some say one foot on the nose, the other on the tail. some say back foot on the tail, your front foot in the middle of the board. i usually get up with my back foot right on the tail and my front foot near the nose but not right on the end. this way once your up you have a more stable stance, which would be helpful for someone just starting.

I got 3 rookie riders up last weekend doing heal starts. Only one of the three had been on a wakeboard before. I started them laying flat on their back with heals on the board, and toes pointing up. Placing their heals near the back edge rail. Once you put tension on the rope, the board kicks up flat against their feet. Once you as the drive see that, hit it and the boat will do the rest.
