Impressive although it seems like a lot of money spent on something as trivial as parking a car.

^^ No way, your potential revenue increase by adding that much capacity is prob huge.

Cool, until you're in a hurry, or forget something. Kind of like putting your car in a rental locker at a ski resort

There was something to do with parking in that video? Sorry, kinda had my eyes on something else!

Parking is a problem in many major metropolitan cities.
I don't see why it's not feasible in the US. Especially if it cuts down on crime/break-ins.

Fast & Furious - Tokyo Shift showed a multiple car garage as well.

Parking a car is never trivial in old European cities. That truely is a fascinating engineering feet to have that entire sysstem automated. But what happens if you lose you little token?

They said they can access by license plate if you lose your token. I think that is just an amazing engineering design. No wonder the US is sometimes behind other countries on certain things.

Extremely maintenance heavy operation. This would only work in countries with low wages or extremely high volume.

This would only work as it is shown in the video, as a public good. Theres too much in overhead, maintenance, and operational costs to be feasible for most of the private sector. But as a public good the gov would pay for the structure and equipment and use the parking fees to cover operational costs and maintenance

Because of the size of America It is hard for Americans to perceive how custered it can be in European cities. It cost about $8 per hour at a meter in London. Plus there is a congestion charge during the week. If you drive into London itself, Mon thru Fri, there is a $15 charge before you even park. So expensive.
They don't call it Treasure Island for nothing.

Someone needs to come up with a system similar to that to back up trailers and launch boats. Think how it would cut down on the Wally factor every Saturday morning at your local lake.

Also, America has too many trucks and SUV's for that system to work. It is awesome engineering though.

They do have that at Discovery Bay. Call them and they pull your boat off the rack with a big forklift and they drop it in the water. When your done, they put it on a stand for you then on the rack once you cleaned it up.

Japan has had similar garages for years.
