Tell me what you think, is this a good goofy wake? Have not had alot of time out testing this. I used to ride port side backside (goofy). I want to switch, so this is like my 3rd attempt at creating a good solid clean wake. It was choppy out there when these were taken. (12mph ssw)Upload

What prop are you running? Wave looks great!

Good but I'd like to see the foam off of the top of the wake near to the boat.

Maybe a shot from a little higher angle would tell the reset of the story.

Do you have a wakeplate? I'm still dialing my wave in and figuring props out.

8.5 vs. 12 should be a huge difference. To be honest that's a great wake for 8.5.

heres another. How would I go about gettin that foam off there. I agree I dont like it. heres what I had weight wise.
650# in the walk thru transom
1100# behind drivers seat
center ballast full (not sure of the weight)
275# in bow starboard side. Do you think I have to much in the mid section?Upload

thats what the speedo says , but how accurate do you believe they are? Duffy I'm really not sure about the prop. Its a 4 blade ACME I'll go look at the box. My wake plate is manual, and its down about 3/4 in. Should I be putting it down as far as she will go?

Jim G. has an '03 Avy set up with FAE and a 4 blade prop. We used his Avy at Nationals last year. The goofy wake was really nice. I know he had an Enzo sack on the goofy side, I'm not sure if he had any other ballast.

We had the Mighty Enzo out last weekend. We set up regular and then goofy. I had more goofy riders than regular. The goofy wake was nowhere near as nice as your Avy goofy wake. At the beginning of the wake we had a lot spitting-spray and most of the wake lip was foamy. My goofy riders had a hard time trying to olie off of the foam. What they ended up doing is starting their olie early; well before they got to the lip.

Next weekend I’m going to try a trick from James H’s book. I’ve got an 18-inch long aluminum plate that I’m going to bolt to the existing wakeplate. I’m hoping that at least calms the spiting that gets in the face of my goofy riders. I don’t think that’s going to fix the foam on the lip of the wake.

What 4 blade prop were they running? I am still looking for the right prop for my 03 avy.

For the Wakesurf Nationals, I actually had a 3 - blade prop. I switched it about a month after I bought the '03 Avy to see if it made the wave better. I thought it made the regular side awesome and it really cleaned up the dark side, making the wave look like a solid wall of water with no foam. But, at the same time I installed FAE, so that also may have had an effect in wave enhancement.

For weight my goal is to get the rub rail from bow to stern around 4" from the water line. Most importantly, I am looking for a good lean, when it is pretty difficult to walk around in the boat (drunk-walking), I know I've got a good wave.

Enzo sac : rear starboard, fat sac : starboard seat, 2 fat bricks : driver seat area, fat sac:front starboard = 3,300. #

Anyway, I would like to see somebody throw a 3-blade on, (and post results) especially for the goofy side to see if it improves the wave....Its a pretty cheap fix compared to plates if it works.

My 3 blade is my spare. I will try to switch to it and see if that cleans up my dark side.

My darkside is nice and clean but as soon as someone moves from the starboard or goofy side to the port side it will get a tiny bit of prop wash on the start of the wave. I actually made a 16x12 wakeplate to counter this, and it totally worked but we noticed it actually made the wave smaller. Here is a couple of my goofy wave. We run avy sac 1400-1500, fat brick on the swim deck, 250 pound of lead in the tranny area, center tank full and 300 pounds in the nose. This is at 10.7-11 and it's mellows in size when we run faster. UploadUpload
