Perfect Pass: DIY install, or leave it to a pro?

How difficult is this? I've never done any work on my boat that involves altering the hull in any way, so I'm a bit nervous.

I'm told it's not that difficult, though.

Opinions?

Overall its not that difficult but some of the steps are crucial to how its going to perform. Choosing the correct location for the paddle, if you're version is using a paddle, is important. Getting the linkage properly adjusted is key as well. Mounting the servo motor correctly is important as well. And of coarse drilling that big hole might be intimidating for you. (for the paddle)

I'd say if you can install an automatic garage door opener, you can diy. Also, if you're going the GPS route, you won't need to drill any holes in the hull for the paddle.

Do your research on GPS vs. Paddle.

Don't do the paddle wheel. Gps install was a piece of cake. Did it in about 1 hr floating out in the middle of the lake.

Unless you riding in moving waters I'd go the GPS route as well. I don't think the install is that intense.

Where is everyone finding the best prices for PP out there?

DIY, I did my last boat. It was much easier than I thought it would be.

I did the GPS version in a 2005 Sea Ray 220 select. It took about an hour and was easy. It works great!!

+1 for the GPS did it last year on mine in about 1.5 hours start to finish on the boat lift. I think the longest part was running all the cables neatly.
