That is the sweetest graphic combo I've ever seen, I've always wanted a white board with white bindings.

Here in Texas that setup would be brown instead of white in a week with our dirty lakes, looks sweet though.

I don't know if it's just my feeling but... the board sharpe's holding look like an OTE design without their ugly graphics... I haven't seen the bottom of the board and I know that's what makes the board but... I hope they'll work harder on the top deck pretty soon... I'm not talking about looks... but more about strenght and swing weight...

Kyle - the reason you can't see the bindings on the front cover of the WBM is because Errington is riding HL Era's, on that Ronix. Funny, right?

Hey, I just like the white on white look. And can I help it if I don't want to pay full retail for perfectly good older stuff?

fabian- those shots are actually courtesy of your local californian photographer who travelled to florida to shoot some girls for upcoming all girls video "The Chick Flick." you just decided to check your local neighborhood wake website instead of wakeboarder.com.

Sorry Scott, didn't mean to step on anyone's toes. I happened to see those pics on wake.com.au in a thread there and saw that they weren't posted here so brought them over. If I knew who the original photographer was, I'd more than happily would have given credit to him and all. My apologies on that Scott.

Here is another pic to chew on. Both the one above and this one are from this past weekend at Nationals. Keep in mind these are not the final product. There is no Graphic on Chad's board and if I remember correctly Danny's graphics will actually be white. Also the binding are still sort of Proto's. These are not the production plate or inner liners.

So it looks like Harf's new board has metal fins instead of the molded fins that he has had since the Premier has been his pro model. Looks like Chad's board is similar in shape to the 3DS but a little wider. Both sets of bindings look they are going to be pretty comfortable.

Nike swoosh on a Ronix board

Im digging the Ronix graphics that I've seen so far! I betcha it will be tough to get your hands on these boards when they first come out; a helluva lot of hype behind them!
Old     (seattle)      Join Date: Mar 2002       08-30-2006, 7:13 PM Reply
I got that Joe.

My point being many on here shifted their loyalty to "family run" Ronix now that an ex Nike exec is going to run Hyperlite. Some implied that the Hyperlite riders left the company to ride for Ronix because they didn't want to sell out to the big business philosophy.

Emily doesn't seem to have a problem riding an Obrien produced board while being paid to advertise for a big time corporation.

I saw a Nike swoosh on a Ronix board and thought it was a little ironic that others didn't notice the two degrees of separation and all the stink that was made of it recently.

But then again what do I know.
Old     (scott_a)      Join Date: Dec 2002       08-30-2006, 8:14 PM Reply
...i still dont understand why this is so ironic. emily's departure from HL had nothing to do with who was taking the reigns at HL.
Old     (dakid)      Join Date: Feb 2001       08-30-2006, 10:12 PM Reply
it's only ironic if you know for a fact that that's the reason why emily left hyperlite.

there really aren't as many riders as you think that get caught up in the whole "big corporation vs. family" crap.

Its Parks pro-model???
Old     (scooby76)      Join Date: Apr 2002       08-31-2006, 6:40 AM Reply
Absolutely not, That is Chad Sharp's Shape. I guess that is my fault for not clearly stating that in the above post. You can also see the tip of the other board he was using at Wakestock.

By the way I also wanted to give props to Chad. He was extremly nice that day and down to earth. This is directly after a Semi Final heat he had just finished. He had no problem answering questions regarding their products and letting us take pics.

From what I understand, Parks will not have a pro-model this fall. I can only assume because he hasn't been able to ride enough prototypes due to his knee.

Scooby, I wasn't claiming whos actual board it was, my bad. I was just pointing out that the pic of the board you posted ( mold / shape ) looks VERY simillar to Hype's Parks mold.

No worries either way, I am looking FWD to seeing what Paul & Herb come out with...

Cliff,

I think it's a little late for wakeboarders to hold out on donating funds to "big buisness". That philosophy (IMO) went out the window with $3/gal gas, $70k wakeboats, and $700-800 board/boot setups.
Old     (seattle)      Join Date: Mar 2002       08-31-2006, 12:54 PM Reply
My attempt at sarcasm was a complete failure.

I'm aware of how ignorant some have been regarding family vs big business, that was the whole point of my original post.

I will return to lurking status now.

I know the point you were trying to get at. I agree with you on that, but I do think that it sucks that large corps are exploiting wakeboarding and other extreme sports. What really does Nike have to offer wakeboarding?
Old     (jason_ssr)      Join Date: Apr 2001       08-31-2006, 2:13 PM Reply
uh, money! Why do you think all of this stuff goes down? Its all about getting paid. People find something that is fun, and exploit it to make money. Nobody makes boards because they like wakeboards. They produce board to make a paycheck, no matter how corporate or how core the company. Pro's dont fly around the world or around the country to see you at boat shows because they just enjoy sitting in booths all day answering the same questions over and over. They do it for money.

Everyone in this industry just cycles money to generate an industry and positive cashflow from you, the consumer. Everyone from gear to boats to the PWT. Nike is just another donor into the cycle.

What does any company "do for wakeboarding"? You think boat company "A" is throwing money into the sport for the love of wakeboarding? No! Its to increase profit. They give a good rider a boat so that people see him and want to buy said boat. But, how do you get that guy in front of more people so that his popularity generates more sales? You create a forum for him to do so, like A TOUR! Well tours dont run for free, so they sponsor the tour, to get their guy and their product some exposure, so that more people buy their product. Once their product has significant increases in demand, they can charge wakeboarders more for it! They are not only increasing units sold, but profit per unit.

Dont get sucked into this "core" vs "corporate" thing. they all want as much of your dough as they can get.

What I thought was the most ironic were the murray bindings on the ronix board... I'm sure it was just a convenience thing for Emily, but its kinda funny to see.
